The history of television is littered with groundbreaking crime series, such as The Sopranos (1999–2007), which launched the golden age of prestige television by following a morally complex mob boss as he balances organized crime with therapy and family life. The Wire (2002–2008) examined the drug trade, law enforcement, education, politics, and media in Baltimore with a sweeping institutional scope. Twin Peaks (1990–1991) blended a murder mystery with David Lynch's signature surrealism and auteur cinematic style, redefining what network television could look like.

Now, another groundbreaking crime series, Power, is coming to Netflix at the perfect time. Created by Courtney A. Kemp in collaboration with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, the crime drama aired on Starz from 2014 to 2020, following James St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), a wealthy Manhattan nightclub owner who lives a double life as a ruthless drug kingpin known as Ghost, alongside his best friend and business partner, Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora).

Power Is Bringing Ghost's Empire To Netflix Next Month

Over six years after airing its finale on Starz, all six seasons of Power will premiere on Netflix on November 9. Until then, seasons 1–6 are currently streaming on Starz and Hulu. During its original run, Power received positive reviews (with average 81% Rotten Tomatoes scores), establishing itself as one of Starz's top-rated series and one of the most-watched shows on cable television.

The Show's Netflix Return Comes At The Perfect Time

Power has spawned three spinoffs – Power Book II: Ghost (2020–2024), Power Book III: Raising Kanan (2021–2026), and Power Book IV: Force (2022–2026) – and with two more currently in development, Power: Origins and Power: Legacy, the original series is coming to Netflix at the perfect time.

Power: Origins will serve as a Ghost and Tommy prequel, following their earlier lives during the late 1990s and early 2000s as they build their drug empire in New York City. Starz describes the prequel as "a fun, rambunctious exploration of a new time period in the Power franchise," following "the unbridled audacity of young men on the rise, determined to become legends in the game."

Power creator Courtney A. Kemp also recently inked a first-look deal with Netflix, which will include Nemesis season 2. Kemp's new crime drama premiered on the streaming service in May 2026, following police detective Isaiah Stiles (Matthew Law) and criminal mastermind Coltrane Wilder (Y'lan Noel) as they play cat-and-mouse in Los Angeles.

With Ghost's empire expanding and more stories on the way, there has never been a better time to dive into the Power franchise for the first time, or revisit the crime saga that keeps fans coming back for more.
