Grammys 2026: Tyla Reveals What She’s Looking for in a Man
Tyla wants a man who can make her lose her breath—and more.
At the Grammys 2026 on Feb. 1. the "Water" singer broke down what she looks for in a partner. (Click here to see all the celebrities on the red carpet.)
"I like to get treated like a princess," she exclusively told Zuri Hall during Live From E!: Grammys broadcasted from Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena. "I love a gentleman."
But that's not to say her dream boyfriend can't make her sweat, make her hotter either. As the 24-year-old put it, I love a guy that can play both—a gentleman but also little rough on the edges. A nice mix."
However, Tyla—whose 2024 single "Push 2 Start" won the Grammy for Best African Music Performance ahead of the Trevor Noah-hosted ceremony—is putting her music first before all else, quipping that she's "ready" for global domination.
"I'm loving it," she said of her sky-rocketing career. "I feel like a pop star—literally a dream."
In fact, Tyla is "feeling way more on my feet" compared to two years ago, when "Water" took over the airwaves.
She added of her journey to the spotlight, "I'm embracing it now."
Still, the South Africa native considers herself to be somewhat of a homebody.

“I rather that than a club every weekend," she shared on the Miami on the Rocks podcast in 2024, saying that she'd rather date someone who plays "video games all day" than a "club guy."
"At least I know we’re chilling; we’re home," Tyla continued. "I also love being at home and chilling. I’m not a gamer, but I like playing games."
She added that a a chill sense of humor is a must.
“Funny is nice, but when it’s too much it gets irritating,” she noted. “I don’t like clown funny. I like natural, like you’re not trying too hard, it just happens. That type of funny.”
