Grammys 2026: Kendrick Lamar Breaks Jay-Z's Record, Makes History With Best Rap Album Win
The hits—and history—just keep coming at the Grammys 2026.
In fact, the Trevor Noah-hosted ceremony at Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena on Feb. 1 introduced awards for Best Album Cover and Best Traditional Country Album, with Tyler, The Creator's CHROMAKOPIA and Zak Top's Ain't In It For My Health taking home prizes in the respective categories. (Click here to see all the celebrities on the red carpet.)
What's more, Kendrick Lamar broke Jay-Z's record as the most-decorated rapper in Grammys history by upping his total to 27 with his Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, Best Melodic Rap Performance, Best Rap Performance and Record of the Year wins. (He's also the fourth act ever to win Record of the Year back-to-back.)
Jay's daughter Blue Ivy Carter also relinquished her crown as the Grammys' youngest winner after Aura V—an 8-year-old from Maryland—won Best Children's Music Album with her dad Fyütch.
Bad Bunny's DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS made history as the first all-Spanish language album to win Album of the Year, while "Golden" from KPop Demon Hunters landed in record books as the first K-pop song to win a Grammy.
Thanks to "Wildflower," Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas now hold the record for most Song of the Year wins with three. And speaking of multiple victories, Lady Gaga became the fourth performer to nab multiple Best Pop Vocal Album prizes—after Adele, Kelly Clarkson and Taylor Swift.
Director Steven Spielberg finally became an EGOT winner with his victory in the Best Music Film category, having served as a producer on the 2024 documentary Music by John Williams.
The Dalai Lama also saw his first Grammy win, with his Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama nabbing the golden gramophone for Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording.
And someone better pour up a double shot of whiskey for Shaboozey, who became the first Black man to win Best Country Duo/Group Performance thanks to his "Amen" collaboration with Jelly Roll.

But even before the awards were handed out, history was made nearly three months ago when the nominations for this year's Grammys were announced on Nov. 7. Kendrick became the first rapper to receive five Album of the Year nominations as a lead artist, as well as the first solo artist ever to be nominated for the award with five consecutive studio albums, with GNX.
Meanwhile, Rosé's nominations in the Record of the Year and Song of the Year categories for her Bruno Mars' collab "APT." landed her in the history books as the first K-pop artist to receive a nomination in the Grammys' big four categories.
And following in the footsteps of Gaga's unprecedented sweep in 2019, Timothée Chalamet—whose work in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown landed him a Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media nomination—now holds the record as the first man to be up for a prize at the Grammys, the Golden Globes, the Actor Awards (formerly known as the SAG Awards) and the Oscars during a single awards season.
