Good American Family explores the tumultuous true story of Natalia Grace. The Hulu show follows Kristine and Michael Barnett, a married couple with three biological children who decide to adopt Natalia, a young Ukranian girl with a rare form of dwarfism. The couple begins to suspect she's not who she says she is (or as old as she claims), leading to a complicated they said/she said situation.
Was Natalia lying about being a little girl? Or were the Barnett's really guilty of child abuse? Instead of answering these questions, which ID's docuseries The Curious Case of Natalia Grace on Max recently explored, the new program takes some fictional liberties with the story and tells it from all perspectives.
"It's really up to the audience to decide for themselves who is telling the truth," Imogen Faith Reid, who plays Natalia in the series, revealed during a Zoom chat about the show. "You've got to watch the whole thing to really cast your judgment."
Ellen Pompeo stars as Kristine Barnett, her first starring role since leaving Grey's Anatomy, and Mark Duplass plays her husband Michael. The supporting cast includes Dulé Hill, Sarayu Blue, Christina Hendricks and Kim Shaw.
