A new threat emerges in the latest trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero

Less than a day after the movie's New York Comic Con panel, a second Godzilla Minus Zero trailer was released. Like the previous trailer, it suggests that Godzilla isn't the only monster threat that humans will have to contend with in this highly anticipated sequel.
The trailer begins with a doctor suggesting that Noriko had "no business surviving" the events of Godzilla Minus One before cutting to Koichi flying through a supernatural storm, lifting entire houses far up into the air. Cue a sizzle reel of people running from or discussing how they're scared of the impending threat, all culminating with a massive atomic breath attack from Godzilla.
That said, Godzilla doesn't seem to be the only monster humans will face in this movie. The trailer's description alludes to "a new threat," and while it doesn't show another creature, it hints at one. Namely, while Godzilla's attacks have a blue hue in Godzilla Minus One and this trailer, we also see beams attacking civilians and destroying a bomb at certain points in the trailer that look more yellow or lightning-like.

As Polygon's review and comments from the filmmakers at New York Comic Con confirm, Gidorah plays a major role in Godzilla Minus Zero. Ever since the three-headed monster debuted in 1964, it has been one of the Godzilla franchise's most recognizable characters and has faced off against Godzilla in many different movies.
We last saw Gidorah in 2019's American-made Godzilla: King of the Monsters, so it'll be exciting to see how a Japanese filmmaker like Takashi Yamazaki reinterprets the character for his series' post-World War 2 setting. I absolutely adored the first movie, so that's more than enough of an enticing prospect to get me to see this movie in IMAX.
Godzilla Minus Zero will come to theaters on Nov. 6.
