Amazon Prime Video‘s live-action “God of War” series has cast three key supporting roles.
Variety has learned that Alastair Duncan has been cast as Mimir, while Danny Woodburn and Jeff Gulka have been cast as brothers Brok and Sindri respectively. The role marks a return to “God of War” for Duncan, as he previously voiced Mimir in both the 2018 game “God of War” and the sequel “God of War Ragnarok.”
They will appear alongside previously announced cast members Ryan Hurst as Kratos, Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor and Mandy Patinkin as Odin. Duncan and Hurst are both alums of the “God of War” games, though Hurst voiced Thor rather than Kratos.
Full character descriptions for the new additions can be found below.
As previously reported, the series will pick up with the story of the two most recent “God of War” games, in which Kratos must raise his ten-year old son Atreus while battling god of the Norse pantheon. Per the logline, “Father and son Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”
“God of War” has received a two-season order at Amazon, with pre-production now underway in Vancouver. Ronald D. Moore is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner on “God of War” under his Tall Ship Productions banner.
In addition to his work in the “God of War” games, Duncan also lent his voice to the “Lord of the Rings” games “Shadow of Mordor” and “Shadow of War” in the role of Celebrimbor. He famously voiced Alfred Pennyworth in the animated series “The Batman” and in several subsequent animated movies and games. His other onscreen credits include “Taggart,” “Split Second,” “Dead Man’s Walk,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” and many more.
Woodburn is perhaps best known for his time playing Mickey Abbott in the seminal sitcom “Seinfeld.” His recent credits include shows like “The Witcher,” “Billions,” “Willow,” and “Bookie.” He has also been in films including “Jingle All the Way,” “Death to Smoochy,” and “Watchmen.”
Gulka previously appeared as Gibson Praise on “The X-Files” and as Charlie in “Stargate-SG1.” Recent credits include “Laid,” “Van Helsing,” “The Magicians,” and “The Irrational.”
Duncan is repped by Mitchell K. Stubbs & Associates. Gulka is repped by Universal Artists Management. Woodburn is repped by The Priluck Company and International Artists Management.

Character Descriptions:
Mimir– Mimir is a cheery fellow from Celtic lands with an expansive intellect, a quick wit and a good head on his shoulders. Never at a loss for words, Mimir is the self-described “Smartest Man in the World”. He served as an advisor to Odin the All-Father, who ultimately banished Mimir to confinement in the trunk of a tree, forever cut off from the people he loves and anything that could nourish his mind. In the wake of his banishment, Mimir seeks atonement for the terrible deeds he committed in the All-Father’s name.
Brok– Brok is a legendary dwarven blacksmith who was alienated from his community when he helped build a super-weapon. Gamers will know Brok as the beloved weapons dealer with an unrivaled artistry for creative, foul-mouthed curses.
Sindri–Sindri is a renowned dwarven blacksmith whose incredible weaponry is sought after across the realms. Neurotic, helpful, and extremely germophobic, Sindri is the complete opposite of his cranky, foul-mouthed brother and business partner, Brok.
