After months of speculation, God of War Laufey was officially revealed at June's State of Play, confirming the various rumors of a new spin-off game featuring Faye. The new game was showcased in epic fashion, with Sony dropping a 20-minute uninterrupted gameplay trailer that gave players a good look at what they can expect when the new God of War entry eventually releases.

Santa Monica Studios and Sony have released a surprising amount of detail about the newly revealed God of War game featuring Faye, including its setting, timeline within the God of War universe, main characters, and an extensive gameplay reveal showcasing some of the mechanics and enemies we can expect to see.

Further, while it's no surprise to gamers, God of War Laufey will release as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, meaning that PC gamers worldwide will be missing out, given there won't be a PC port at launch—or for the foreseeable future after the game's release for that matter. Additionally, the PS5 exclusivity also means PlayStation 4 gamers, as well as XBOX and/or Switch gamers, will be missing out on the party as well.

While this won't exactly come as a huge surprise to gamers on other platforms outside of PS5 and PS5 Pro, it will be a bit disappointing, especially for PC gamers who will be missing out on a string of unique exclusive titles this year, including the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, Marvel's Wolverine, etc.

While it's currently unclear if or when God of War Laufey will be getting an official PC port, it's safe to say that anyone without a PS5 or PS5 Pro is going to have some serious FOMO when the game first launches. Say what you will about Sony's return-to-exclusives strategy, but there are several recent PS5 exclusive titles that are making gamers question their platform of choice.

As of this writing, there's no specific release date for God of War Laufey, but you can wishlist it now on the PlayStation Store to receive updates when they become available.
