God Of War Laufey Joins The Growing Pile Of February 2027 Game Releases

God of War Laufey will be Sony’s next PlayStation 5 exclusive after Marvel’s Wolverine launches in September. A February release date for the upcoming action-adventure from Santa Monica Studio was revealed at a San Diego Comic-Con 2026 panel Friday night, confirming the next chapter in the mythological epic will arrive alongside a boatload of other big game launches.

God of War Laufey launches February 16, 2027. That’s a few days after Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and a few days before Persona 4 Revival. Fable comes out the following week. Metro 2039 is due out that month, too. Whether unafraid or waiting for some of the competition to blink first, that timing makes the sequel one of at least two big first-party PlayStation exclusives fans will be expecting next year.

They already suspected God of War Laufey would be shipping soon, despite only being revealed for the first time a couple of months ago, because the development team already confirmed it would arrive with a physical disc version. Sony has declared that all games shipping in January 2028 and beyond will be digital-only.

At the San Diego Comic-Con panel, franchise director Cory Barlog confirmed there’s also already a second God of War game in development that stars Kratos and will tie in directly with Laufey. Players are expecting Laufey to explore and maybe solve some of the series’ biggest existing mysteries since the 2018 reboot launched, though it’ll likely tease some new ones as well.

The second game is also good news because it probably means Santa Monica Studio didn’t feel too much pressure to shoehorn Kratos into Laufey’s adventure. Unlike Laufey, however, that one doesn’t yet have a release date.
