EXCLUSIVE: Global is launching Up to Speed, a Formula 1-themed podcast co-hosted by 13-time Grand Prix winner David Coulthard.
He will form part of a four-person presenting team also comprising Drive to Survive‘s Will Buxton, driver-turned-broadcaster Naomi Schiff and F1 presenter and content creator Jolie Sharpe.
The pod is launching on Monday, February 16 through the Global Player, YouTube and podcast platforms. Global Studios is the producer.
The hosts will deliver race reactions, behind-the-scenes insight and comment on trending F1 stories from both on and off the track. Episodes will drop twice a week with Monday episodes offering fast, reactive analysis of the weekend’s racing drama and Thursday episodes going deeper into the story of the week, alongside big-name interviews.
Coulthard, who alongside his career in F1 is a co-founder of the Sony-owned Whisper Group said: “Formula 1’s audience continues to grow every year, and with so much momentum in the sport, this feels like the perfect time to launch a podcast show like this. It’s a huge season for Formula 1, and we want to bring fans right into the heart of it. Expect big interviews, sharp analysis, and above all, a genuine passion and love for racing.”
Buxton added the presenting team and the podcast feels “like the perfect way to open the doors a little wider,” while Schiff said it would focus on “sharing those conversations, moments and perspectives with fans, and exploring what matters on and off the track.”
Sharpe, who recently signed with CAA Sports Media, said Up to Speed would be “a chance to turn that into something fans can really be part of.”
The news comes in the same month Global Studios acquired The Overlap, the sports media network founded by former England and Manchester United soccer player Gary Neville. The company also owns The Fellas Studios and acts as the entertainment hub for Global, which is best known as a radio company.
