EXCLUSIVE: Writer-director Josie Andrews has set the cast for her debut feature, the comedic slasher Bach Sh*t Crazy. The call sheet includes Gillian Bolt (Landman), Sydney Elizebeth Agudong (Lilo & Stitch), Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!), Sydney Cole Alexander (Severance), Ashleigh Murray (The Other Black Girl), Lindsey Normington (Anora), Evan Rubin (A House of Dynamite) and Peloton’s Cody Rigsby.
Bach Sh*t Crazy follows a tight-knit group of college friends reuniting for yet another bachelorette weekend — this time at a lavish ski chalet owned by the bride’s ultra-wealthy fiancé (Lennon). Maid of honor Maya (Agudong) has grown distant from best friend Evie (Bolt), whose rekindled bond with estranged college mean girl Tess (Alexander) threatens to derail the trip. A competitive scavenger hunt heightens tensions before taking a violent turn, stranding the women on a snowy mountain with a killer on the loose.
Developed by Andrews with collaborators Catie Bolt and Gillian Bolt, the film is inspired by the trio’s ever-rotating roles in their current real-life bridesquad era. The project is supported through fiscal sponsorship by the Alliance of Women Directors, where Andrews was an inaugural RDF Fellow. Production is underway in Tahoe, California, with Catie Bolt producing alongside Gillian Bolt for Bolt Productions. Andrews will also produce under her Dumm Blonde banner. Casting is by Wes Butcher and Kendra Andrews at Chrystie Street.
Andrews’ previous shorts have screened globally, earning wins and nominations at Oscar and BAFTA-qualifying festivals including SCAD, Ampav’s Emerging Filmmaker’s showcase at the Cannes Film Festival, Nashville, Newport, Dances with Films, and others. Her award-winning debut documentary, Waiting in the Wings, chronicling live theater’s comeback amid the pandemic, is available on the PBS app. A graduate of USC’s MFA program, she currently adjuncts in the production department and also has participated in the Sundance/WIF Finance Intensive and the Alliance of Women Directors’ Rising Director Fellowship. She is repped by Artists First.
