The Gilded Age season 4 release timeline receives an official update from HBO Max, with a first look at Bertha Russell also revealed.

Now, a new "Coming Soon" to HBO Max promo confirms that The Gilded Age season 4 will premiere sometime this year, and also reveals the first look at Carrie Coon's Bertha Russell and several other characters, starting at the 1:08 minute mark. The footage features Bertha Russell delivering the line, "Life’s meaning isn't where we came from. It's where we're going." Watch the full video below:

The promo features footage from several other shows coming to HBO this year, including Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness, Lanterns, Youth, Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Seattle Seahawks, the new season of Conan O'Brien Must Go, War, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and the documentaries The Man Will Burn, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Monsters of God.

Created and written by Julian Fellowes, The Gilded Age takes place during the titular boom years of the 1880s in New York City and follows the conflict between the new-money Russell family, led by their matriarch Bertha (Carrie Coon), and their old-money neighbors, the van Rhijn family.

In season 4, Bertha Russell faces the fallout from her relentless pursuit of high society, creating tensions that even strain her relationship with her husband, George (Morgan Spector). Sensing weakness, the old-guard socialite Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) moves to reclaim her influence and undermine Bertha's rise.

At the same time, Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) steps into a more independent chapter of her life, while Peggy Scott (Denée Benton) struggles to win acceptance from her future in-laws.

Other than the aforementioned actors, The Gilded Age's cast for season 4 will also include the return of Cynthia Nixon, Harry Richardson, Blake Ritson, Taissa Farmiga, Audra McDonald, and many more, while Kelley Curran has been promoted to a series regular. Jim Gaffigan, Dallas Roberts, Elizabeth Marvel, and Andrew Burnap have joined the upcoming season as guest stars.

The Gilded Age season 4 is expected to premiere in late 2026.
