GiantX advances in VCT EMEA Stage 2 Play-Ins after scrappy win over Eintracht Frankfurt

1 week ago 12

GiantX punched their ticket to the upper bracket second round of the VCT 2026 EMEA Stage 2 Play-Ins on August 6, taking down Challenger side Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1. The victory keeps GiantX in contention for one of two qualifying spots at VALORANT Champions 2026.

The series opened with GiantX steamrolling Eintracht Frankfurt 13-5 on Lotus. Then the script flipped. The second map saw Frankfurt take control early, closing it out 13-9 to force a decider. GiantX found themselves trailing again on the third map, Summit, but clawed back to win 13-9 and seal the series.

The pattern of digging early holes was not lost on the players. GiantX’s westside addressed it directly in a post-match interview with THESPIKE.GG.

“We started both the second and third maps at a significant round disadvantage.”

The road to Champions 2026

The VCT EMEA Stage 2 Play-Ins run from August 6 to August 16, featuring 12 teams in a double-elimination bracket. The field mixes eight squads from the Group Stage with four Challenger sides. The top two teams emerging from this gauntlet earn a trip to VALORANT Champions 2026, which carries a $250K prize pool. GiantX’s roster includes in-game leader Flickless alongside westside, ara, Jesse, and neT.

GiantX’s next test comes on August 8 against FUT Esports.

Challengers making their presence felt

Westside acknowledged the positive impact of bringing Challenger squads into the fold, noting it provides meaningful opportunities for younger players who might otherwise be stuck grinding without exposure to top-tier competition.

For Eintracht Frankfurt, the loss drops them to the lower bracket but does not eliminate them. The double-elimination structure means they will have another crack at survival.
