Get Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack For Free For A Limited Time

Nintendo is in a pretty good spot right now. Although they would be happy selling even more Switch 2 hardware this year compared to 2025, there's a ton of games in the works, with Star Fox imminently coming down the pike.

Of course, you'll need Nintendo Switch Online to play some of these games, as Nintendo continues to move more aggressively into the online subscription arena. More and more retro games are being tied to the service, and Nintendo is always looking at ways to add more to sweeten the deal, albeit slowly, in any given year.

There is one promotion you'll want to jump on, though. Over on X, Nintendo of America confirmed a new deal that will let you grab a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack for free, but you'll need to act quickly to take advantage of it. Like many offers of this caliber, it's a limited-time deal.

Over on the official Nintendo site, there's now an offer available that can grant you a free bonus month of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. As for the terms, you'll need to purchase or redeem a 12-month individual or family membership. Plus, you'll need to manually activate the offer.

Note that there is a timeline for this deal. You'll need to buy the membership and activate your account before July 28 at 11:59PM PT to qualify before you miss out. Nintendo clarifies that you can buy the membership and activate the free offer "in any order," so don't stress too much about doing it incorrectly.

Thankfully, folks who are already subscribers can still partake in this deal: "Already a member? Existing Nintendo Switch Online members can also take advantage of this offer and unlock a free bonus month if you activate this offer and change from a Nintendo Switch Online membership to a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. Existing Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members can also receive a bonus month by activating the offer and renewing their membership or adding another year to their current one."

If you've never subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online before, there are a few perks beyond the ability to play some games online. There's also a member-exclusive shop (with hardware like a GameCube/Nintendo 64 controller, as well as two Virtual Boy shells for Switch), access to the Nintendo Music app, cloud save access, select exclusive games, and GameChat.
