Correctly building the Pyro Traveler in Genshin Impact is a necessary step in optimizing their role as either a sub-DPS or a main DPS in team comps. The Pyro Traveler has finally become available as of Version 5.3, following their arrival in Natlan in Version 5.0. The Pyro Traveler is, at their core, an off-field sub-DPS capable of helping the party with off-field Pyro DMG against enemies, activated by their Elemental Skill. The Pyro Traveler’s kit in Genshin Impact revolves mostly around this mechanic. However, it’s possible to transform them into a main DPS, too.

Once you unlock the Pyro Traveler’s C6 (Constellation level 6), their Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks will deal Nightsoul-aligned Pyro DMG while in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, making them a viable NA DPS. If you unlock their C6, you are not locked out of their sub-DPS role, but can instead opt to use them as your main damage dealer. This, however, affects a large portion of their build, from weapons and Artifacts to the team comps themselves. With this in mind, you should search for the best gear after unlocking the Pyro Traveler in Genshin Impact.

Best Weapons For Pyro Traveler (Best Swords)

Prioritize Swords With Good Offensive Bonuses

Genshin Impact's Pyro Traveler stands in Natlan.

To start working on the Pyro Traveler’s build, you’ll first need to assign a sword for them to work with. The best sword for the Pyro Traveler’s sub-DPS build is Freedom-Sworn. This 5-star sword gives them a decent Elemental Mastery sub-stat (198 at level 90) but what really makes it worthwhile is its weapon skill. Freedom-Sworn increases the user’s DMG by 10% and when they trigger reactions, they gain a Sigil of Rebellion. With two Sigils, they are consumed and grant nearby allies 20% ATK and 16% Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack DMG for 12 seconds.

Sigils can be obtained every 0.5 seconds, an effect that can be triggered even if the character is off-field. Once the Sigils are consumed, no Sigils can be obtained for 20 seconds. The effect of this weapon does not stack if another character is wielding Freedom-Sworn.

The table below lists the best builds for the Pyro Traveler’s sub-DPS and main DPS roles in Genshin Impact, including suggested weapons, recommended Artifacts, ideal stats, and more:

Pyro Traveler's Best Build In Genshin Impact

Weapon

Sub-DPS:

  • Freedom-Sworn (Best 5-star)
  • Wolf-Fang (4-star substitute)
  • Lion's Roar (4-star substitute)
  • Sapwood Blade (4-star substitute - Burning or Burgeon teams)
  • Festering Desire (F2P 4-star substitute)
  • Finale of the Deep (F2P 4-star substitute)

Main DPS:

  • Mistsplitter Reforged (Best 5-star)
  • Haran Geppaku Futsu (5-star substitute)
  • Skyward Blade (5-star substitute)
  • Uraku Misugiri (5-star substitute - if a Geo unit is in the team)
  • The Black Sword (4-star substitute)
  • Anemona Kageuchi (F2P 4-star substitute)

Artifact

Sub-DPS:

  1. Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City (4 pieces)
  2. Golden Troupe (4 pieces substitute)

Main DPS:

  • Obsidian Codex (4 pieces)

Stat Priority

  1. CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG
  2. ATK
  3. Pyro DMG
  4. Energy Recharge
  5. Elemental Mastery (sub-stat)

Talent Priority

Sub-DPS:

  1. Elemental Skill
  2. Elemental Burst
  3. Normal Attack

Main DPS:

  1. Normal Attack
  2. Elemental Skill & Elemental Burst

If you don’t have Freedom-Sworn, you can use different 4-star swords for the Pyro Traveler. One of them is Lion’s Roar, which gives them an impressive ATK sub-stat (41.3% at level 90) and increases the DMG against enemies affected by Pyro or Electro by 20% (at R1). If you unlock R5, the DMG bonus is increased to 36%. A F2P (free-to-play) alternative is Finale of the Deep. It offers a lower ATK sub-stat (27.6% at level 90) but when using an Elemental Skill, ATK is increased by 12% for 15 seconds (at R1). At R5, the ATK bonus is 24%.

Finale of the Deep grants a bonus effect with Bond of Life in Genshin Impact, but considering the Pyro Traveler does not have it, the weapon would only serve to give them the ATK buff.

Sapwood Blade also works for the Pyro Traveler’s sub-DPS build. It grants a considerable Energy Recharge buff via its sub-stat (30.6% at level 90). After triggering Burning or Burgeon, a Leaf of Consciousness is created near the Pyro Traveler for up to 10 seconds. When picked up, they gain 60 Elemental Mastery for 12 seconds. This effect can be triggered from off-field. Essentially, this sword helps increase the Traveler’s power during elemental reactions, but only in teams focused on Burning or Burgeon, like one led by Kinich in Genshin Impact.

Wolf-Fang is a great sword for the Pyro Traveler with its useful CRIT Rate sub-stat (27.6% at level 90) and weapon skill. The 4-star weapon increases the DMG dealt by Elemental Skill and Burst by 16% and, when a Skill hits an opponent, CRIT Rate is boosted by 2% (at R1). When the Burst hits an opponent, CRIT Rate is increased by 2% – these effects last 10 seconds separately, up to four stacks, and can be triggered once every 0.1 seconds.

Genshin Impact: Best Mavuika Builds (Weapons, Artifacts, Team Comps, Stats)

Finding the best build for Mavuika in Genshin Impact can be tough because of her versatility as both a DPS and sub-DPS. Here’s how to optimize her.

Festering Desire is also a spectacular weapon for the Pyro Traveler’s sub-DPS build. Its sub-stat grants 45.9% Energy Recharge (at level 90) and its weapon skill increases Elemental Skill DMG by 16% and Elemental Skill CRIT Rate by 6% (at R1). Of course, this is an old event weapon, so not all players will have access to it.

For the Pyro Traveler’s main DPS role, you can equip Mistsplitter Reforged in Genshin Impact, which grants them a CRIT DMG sub-stat (44.1% at level 90). Additionally, they can gain a 12% Elemental DMG Bonus, up to three stacks. At stacks 1/2/3, Elemental DMG is increased by an extra 8/16/28%. Stacks can be gained by Normal Attacks with Elemental DMG, casting an Elemental Burst, and having less than 100% Energy.

When choosing weapons for the Pyro Traveler’s main DPS build, look for swords that increase offensive stats and that benefit their Normal Attacks or Elemental DMG since these will carry the bulk of their damage output.

Alternatively, you can use Haran Geppaku Futsu. The 5-star sword offers a CRIT Rate sub-stat (33.1% at level 90). The weapon grants a 12% All Elemental DMG Bonus and when nearby allies use Elemental Skills, the user gains one Wavespike, up to two stacks. When the user activates their Elemental Skill, all stacks of Wavespike are consumed to gain Rippling Upheaval. Each stack of Wavespike that is consumed increased Normal Attack DMG by 20% for eight seconds in Genshin Impact.

Skyward Blade is a decent 5-star substitute for the Pyro Traveler. Its Energy Recharge sub-stat (55.1% at level 90) is useful to help fuel their Burst. The sword also increases CRIT Rate by 4% and after using a Burst, the user gains Skypiercing Might, which increases Movement SPD by 10%, increases ATK SPD by 10%, and increases the DMG of Normal and Charged Attack hits by 20% for 12 seconds.

Genshin Impact 5.4 Leaks Hint At The Most Promising Rerun In Ages

A much-needed and long-awaited rerun character has been leaked for Genshin Impact 5.4, which may finally resolve an ongoing banner issue.

If you are using a Geo character in your team comp, such as Zhongli or Xilonen, you could use Uraku Misugiri, the best sword for Chiori’s build in Genshin Impact. The weapon offers a superb CRIT DMG sub-stat (88.2% at level 90). Normal Attack DMG is increased by 16% and Elemental Skill DMG is boosted by 24%, which is already a superb effect. Moreover, after a nearby ally deals Geo DMG, the aforementioned effects increase by 100% for 15 seconds. The user’s DEF is also increased by 20%.

A good 4-star alternative for the Pyro Traveler’s main DPS build is The Black Sword. The battle pass-exclusive weapon offers a CRIT Rate sub-stat (27.6% at level 90). The Black Sword increases the DMG dealt by Normal and Charged Attacks by 20% and regenerates 60% of ATK as HP when Normal and Charged Attacks score CRIT hits on opponents, an effect that can happen every five seconds.

Genshin Impact's Skirk stands seriously with a portal to the Abyss in the background.

Why Genshin Impact Confirming Long-Forgotten Leaked Characters Like Dahlia & Prison Girl Is A Big Deal

HoYoverse has teased seven new characters for Genshin Impact. Among them are several previously leaked characters like Dahlia and prison girl.

A F2P 4-star weapon for Pyro Traveler’s DPS build is Anemona Kageuchi, which grants a strong ATK sub-stat (55.1% at level 90). After casting a Skill, the user gains 1 Succession Seed, which lasts for 30 seconds, up to three simultaneous stacks. After using a Burst, all Seeds are consumed and after two seconds, the character regenerates 6 Energy for each Seed consumed. Overall, there are plenty of weapon options for the Pyro Traveler, but you need to pay attention to the effects they grant.

Best Artifacts & Stats For Pyro Traveler

Sets Vary Depending On The Character’s Role In Team Comps

Genshin Impact's Aether and Lumine are lying on the grass.

For a sub-DPS role, the Pyro Traveler thrives with Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City Artifacts. Its two-piece bonus sees that when a nearby ally triggers Nightsoul Burst, the user regenerates 6 Elemental Energy. With four pieces, after the user triggers a reaction, all allies gain a 12% Elemental DMG Bonus for the involved elements for 15 seconds, and if the user is in the Nightsoul’s Blessings state when triggering this effect, all allies gain an extra 28% Elemental DMG Bonus for the elements for 20 seconds.

Genshin Impact's Skirk looks lost in thought.

Genshin Impact Character Leaks Show Skirk May Save The Meta (But Don't Believe Them Just Yet)

Following her teaser as a playable character in Genshin Impact, new information about Skirk has emerged and it seems promising for the game’s meta.

A great alternative, especially if your team is not full of Natlan characters, is Golden Troupe. The two-piece bonus increases Elemental Skill DMG by 20%. The four-piece bonus boosts Elemental Skill DMG by an extra 25% and when the user is not on the field, Elemental Skill DMG is further boosted by 25%.

For the Pyro Traveler’s main DPS build, the best way to go is with Obsidian Codex in Genshin Impact. While on the field and in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, Pyro Traveler’s DMG is increased by 15% with the set’s two-piece bonus. With four pieces, after they consume one Nightsoul point on the field, CRIT Rate is increased by 40% for six seconds.

Genshin Impact's Xilonen looks backward.

Genshin Impact 5.3 Leaked Footage Seems To Confirm Devastating Character Loss

Natlan may lose one of its most important characters in Genshin Impact 5.3, and new leaked footage helps sustain the previous rumors of their demise.

When you are farming any of these Artifact sets, it’s recommended that you prioritize CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK, and Pyro DMG. The Pyro Traveler is a traditional damage dealer in both roles, so optimizing their damage output with these stats is recommended. Having a large sum of Energy Recharge is also great, especially for their main DPS build. A reliable sub-stat to farm is Elemental Mastery since it will boost the power of the elemental reactions the Pyro Traveler triggers with their off-field and on-field abilities in Genshin Impact.

Best Team Comps For Pyro Traveler

The Character Is Versatile

The Pyro Traveler can be a versatile character in both their roles. As an off-field Pyro sub-DPS, Pyro Traveler can help serve characters like Kinich, Mualani, Wriothesley, and Clorinde, triggering reactions infused with their consistent Pyro application. It’s worth noting that Pyro Traveler can grant an extra DMG bonus for characters in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state and can restore energy when allies trigger Nightsoul Bursts. While they work well with Natlan characters in Genshin Impact, Pyro Traveler can operate very well with units from other regions.

The table below lists team comp suggestions for the Pyro Traveler based on their chosen role and the central elemental reaction in the party:

Overall, there are many options to choose from when building a team comp with the Pyro Traveler in it. The line of thought is to consider the Pyro Traveler as either your off-field Pyro DMG source or your main Pyro DMG. For comparison, either consider the Pyro Traveler a substitute for Xiangling as a sub-DPS or a mini Arlecchino in Genshin Impact.

Skill (Talent) Priority For Pyro Traveler

Priorities Change Based On Their Role

Genshin Impact's Pyro Traveler raises his sword in battle.

When leveling up Pyro Traveler’s abilities, you may need to prioritize some over others. For their sub-DPS build, consider their Elemental Skill the most important part of their kit, followed by their Burst. Seeing they mainly stay off-field, Normal Attacks are the last priority. If you are working on their main DPS build, however, prioritize Normal Attacks, followed by their Elemental Skill and Burst at the same time.

Genshin Impact: It's About Time HoYoverse Retired Alchemy Tables

Farming could be optimized in Genshin Impact if developer HoYoverse retired Alchemy Tables in the way that they are currently presented.

In general, both of the Pyro Traveler’s builds are easily achievable, but you’ll need to double down on whichever role you want them to play. Each role has significant differences in builds, so be sure to take that into consideration when working on the character. The Pyro Traveler comes as a blessing to Genshin Impact, which has been needing a new Pyro sub-DPS for quite some time and a strong F2P Pyro DPS, too.
