General Hospital star Kirsten Storms has broken her silence after a turbulent few months of personal drama, capped by an emergency restraining order filed by her ex.
The actress, 42, has recently been dealing with a string of alleged setbacks, including a reported home break-in, a cell phone hack, a brain aneurysm, and legal action taken by ex-husband Brandon Barash, who claimed she was experiencing a 'mental health crisis’.
Storms, who has played Maxie on the ABC soap since 2005, was married to Barash from 2013 to 2016, with the former couple sharing a daughter, Harper Rose, 12.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the actress addressed the growing speculation surrounding her.
‘I’m sure some of you guys have read the stories online regarding a situation involving something my ex-husband is currently trying to claim,’ she began the lengthy message.
‘Because I did see one story online stating I reported the apartment break-in AFTER he filed something against me in court, I really need to address this entire situation,’ she added.

Storms did not specify in her post who she believes was responsible for the alleged break-in at her apartment.
However, she said the ‘records and evidence’ will ultimately support her claims.
She also revealed that, in the aftermath, she temporarily relocated to Tennessee with her daughter during her extended hiatus from General Hospital at the end of last year.
Storms added that the ongoing investigation into the alleged break-ins has been emotionally difficult, and made even harder by the public attention surrounding it.
‘I haven't been online much because of how the circumstances have been twisted into something that they shouldn't be,’ she continued. ‘This has been a very serious thing for me to go through.’
Turning to her future on General Hospital, she admitted uncertainty about returning to work, writing, ‘Given what's been going on, I can't say I will be comfortable heading back to Los Angeles and returning to work.’
She added, ‘This has been an eye-opening experience about the downside of my profession. My daughter is my entire life; she is (and always will be) my first priority.’
Barash's filing, which was first submitted to the court in December 2025, claims Storms contacted him allegedly saying she was 'experiencing delusions and hallucinations' in May 2025.
Barash is an alum of soaps such as General Hospital and Days of Our Lives
The Orlando, Florida-born actress has also been sued by her landlord for eviction over past due balances, Barash added.
The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for both parties for further comment on the story and has yet to hear back.
Barash said in his court filing that Storms did not have a stable residence from a timespan between September 2024 until June of 2025.
Storms, who previously appeared on Days of Our Lives from 1999-2004, was often spending the night with friends or at hotels, her ex-husband said in his court filing.
When she would stay at hotels with their daughter, Barash said, she often changed rooms out of paranoia someone was 'following her and the child to her room.'
Barash, also an alum of soaps such as General Hospital and Days of Our Lives, said in his court filing that Storms' vehicle is on the verge of being repossessed.
Storms has also yet to pay Barash back a personal $5,000 loan, the actor said in his court filing.
She has been steadily-employed as an actress for decades, Barash told the court.
Storms has appeared on more than 1,700 episodes of General Hospital since 2005, according to iMDb.
The actress told Barash she felt she had been 'experiencing delusions and hallucinations' amid a mental health crisis on May 19, 2025, per his court filing.
Barash told the court Storms advised him that she 'didn't think she should have the child for her parenting time' as she dealt with the setback.

Storms was subsequently put on a psychiatric hold at a mental health facility, a process which Barash said he and his current spouse assisted with.
Upon her release, Storms did not acknowledge the events that led to her being hospitalized, Barash said in his filing.
In a November 2025 incident, Barash told the court, Storms said she thought people had been stealing things from her apartment and putting them in her vehicle in an effort to 'mess with her.'
Storms has experienced 'repeated episodes of melting down, being triggered' and 'hearing things/voices that weren't there,' Barash told the court, adding that associates of Storms have pointed to potential abuse of substances such as Adderall.
Barash has requested Storms - who's currently granted supervised visitation with their daughter - be evaluated for her mental health.
The judge in the case is slated to reexamine the restraining order later this week.
