Bond girl Gemma Arterton has revealed that all her sex scenes are now carefully choreographed by intimacy co-ordinators in the wake of the #MeToo movement.

And the 38-year-old actress highlighted the stark contrast with her experiences as a young performer who wasn't given a say in whether or not she did an intimate scene.

Arterton, best known for playing intelligence operative Strawberry Fields in the 2008 Bond film Quantum Of Solace, said: 'One time a sex scene was just thrown upon me.

'Like, "This is what's going to happen", and I did it. That wouldn't happen now, with intimacy co-ordinators.'

'I'm really pleased that we have intimacy co-ordinators now. It takes away the unknown.

'There's no ambiguity. It does feel a bit prescriptive, but then it's like learning an accent, a fight or a dance – you have to go through the motions first, then you make it feel more spontaneous and relaxed.'

Arterton also revealed that at the top every movie call sheet now, there is a confidential line to call if an actor is going through anything

The actress told the Times magazine that she is still concerned about the effects sex scenes have on younger actors. 'I said no [to a sex scene] another time, when I was feeling a bit more empowered,' she said.

'That's why I'm worried about younger actors, or replaceable actors. I've heard stories from actor friends who are less established or starting out, where they felt they couldn't say anything because they'd get fired. That's really terrible.'

She revealed other ways the film industry has changed after the rise of the #MeToo movement, which gave a voice to survivors of sexual harassment and violence.

She added: 'At the top of every call sheet, there's a number to call if you're going through anything.

'It's completely anonymous. That's really great because it wasn't there before. There's been loads of change. If there's any bullying, there are outlets you can contact.'

Arterton stars in new thriller Culprits, which will be available to stream on ITVX from December 19.
