With the third season of House of the Dragon currently airing, the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, or more commonly known as Game of Thrones, is currently back in the spotlight. Running for eight seasons before concluding back in 2019, Game of Thrones became a cultural phenomenon and a household name practically overnight, but with a final season that many of us like to pretend never happened, fans have been eager for ways to rewrite history.

Set mainly on the fictional continent of Westeros, the story follows many Houses battling to sit upon the Iron Throne, and as such, the narrative is full to the brim with politics, violence, dynasties, and betrayal. Despite its unfortunate ending, Game of Thrones is still regarded as one of the greatest television shows of all time, so it is perhaps no surprise that its popularity continues to shine to this day.

The Night King in season 5 of Game of Thrones

As such, plenty of spin-offs and sequels have been released over the last few years, and that includes Game of Thrones: War for Westeros.

In this multiplayer real-time strategy game for PC, players will get to play the game of thrones for themselves as chaos reigns in ruthless, large-scale, free-for-all battles. Set in a world where trust is fleeting and power is everything, you will get to command the battles, forge strategic alliances, and weave deceit amongst your rivals as you fight to hold power on the warring continent of Westeros.

Developed by PlaySide Studios, Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is set to launch later this year, and will allow players to take control of armies from House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, or even the Night King and his forces.

With the return of some beloved characters such as Jaime Lannister, Daenerys Tagaryen, and Jon Snow, players will be able to rewrite history as they command forces such as infantry, dragons, giants, and more, and even fight alongside friends in multiplayer mode.

Not only that, but Game of Thrones: War for Westeros will launch alongside a campaign mode, as well as various skirmish matches, offering different gameplay based on what you are looking for in this real-time strategy game.
