Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there.

Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers.

With the finale of Game of Thrones being one of the most divisive pieces of television of all time, it is no wonder that the majority of fans would love the power to go back and change the entirety of the final season. With Bran now king and Daenerys betrayed and killed, it is perhaps no wonder that Game of Thrones season eight currently sits at a 4.1 User Score on Metacritic.

However, there is a way to change the ending that many of us were left feeling disappointed with, and that comes courtesy of Game of Thrones: Kingsroad.

Developed by Netmarble and first released back in 2025, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is a story-driven, action-adventure game inspired by the hit television show. Bringing Westeros to life in never-before-seen detail, the game will allow players to explore the seven kingdoms, master dynamic and immersive ARPG combat, choose from a distinct class: Knight, Sellsword, and Assassin, and even embark on co-op combat alongside fellow players.

Whether you travel all the way to the Wall in the north, or to King's Landing in the south, you will stumble across some of the franchise's most iconic locations as you take on the role of an illegitimate child from a small noble house in the north, House Tyre. "Thrust into action by the death of your brothers and the looming threat of winter, you must embark on a mission to restore your house to its former glory," the official synopsis for Game of Thrones: Kingsroad reads. "Solidify your political position, navigate the complex power struggles between the noble houses of Westeros, and seek out what allies you can, all while aiding the Night’s Watch in their preparations for the final confrontation with the White Walkers and their army of the dead that awaits just beyond the Wall."

In recent months, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad has earned a Mixed rating on Steam. However, over on r/KingsroadGOT, one fan recently shared a brief review of their time with the game, saying it is the perfect way to explore Westeros.

"So I recently played the Game of Thrones: Kingsroad game on my PC and iPad 10th gen and all I have to say is the game is actually good," their "honest" review reads. "The game lets you play as a bastard from a small house, similar to Jon Snow, and in the PC version, the game was similar to the series as well in terms of world building, gore and violence."

Describing it as "easy to play" as well as commending its fun combat, the user eventually settles on a 7/10 for Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, which is pretty respectable if you ask me. That being said, the comments soon piled in, and it seems as though the game truly does hold its "mixed" rating on Steam.

"I love this game!" One happy user shared. "It’s great for GOT fans. It runs very well on PC. I’m level 46 right now." However, another said, "I played every day for the first six months and had a lot of fun, but then the content ran out, and I hated the Wormwalks and the group stuff available." Another agreed about the lack of new content, adding, "I have finished full mission and now waiting for new update. It's so boring. You just play the same bandit camp animals and everything and RP is s*it if you want to build momentum. After playing two hideouts, almost 90 RP is finished. Also, Altar of Memories is like one per day and Kraken once per week. It's so boring and Asia has got a new update, Frost and Steel, and Europe has to wait until the end of September to get the new update."

It seems as though a lack of content is Game of Thrones: Kingsroad's main issue right now, as the current content seems to appeal to a large majority of players. As such, if you are yet to try out this story-driven RPG and want to rewrite the history of Game of Thrones yourself, maybe it is the perfect time to try it out.
