Regardless of what we may think about the Game of Thrones finale back in 2019, and despite the fact that we have waited what feels like a lifetime for the next book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, Winds of Winter, there is no denying the impact that the high fantasy world created by George R.R. Martin has had on the world.

Not only has it gone on to inspire two equally successful spin-off shows, House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, but the Game of Thrones IP is also performing well when it comes to mobile games such as Game of Thrones: Legends and Game of Thrones: Dragonfire. However, with many of us avoiding mobile games due to their microtransactions, it is about time that we received a PC game set in the fantasy world.

Luckily, one is set to launch some time in 2027 with the arrival of Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, a real-time strategy title from PlaySide. Originally expected to launch in 2026, before receiving a delay to 2027, this upcoming Game of Thrones-inspired video game will task players with conquering the Seven Kingdoms and sitting upon the Iron Throne.

With the opportunity to rewrite history, including the Game of Thrones finale that we still cannot forgive to this day, War for Westeros is our ticket to getting the ending we choose as we command the Great Houses, take part in both single-player and multiplayer combat, and even meet some familiar faces along the way, such as Arya and even the Night King himself.

In War for Westeros, chaos reigns in ruthless battles across the Seven Kingdoms. Command the Great Houses in epic real-time strategy battles, and stake your claim to the Iron Throne.

By commanding the armies of House Lannister, House Stark, House Targaryen, and even the Night King's army of White Walkers, we will be able to master asymmetric strategies, control iconic heroes such as Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister, and more, and even utilize heroic abilities in order to gain the upper hands against our opponents in PvP combat.

Not only that, but with Game of Thrones being the inspiration behind this upcoming real-time strategy experience, it comes as no surprise that we will also be able to command dragons, giants, infantry, and cavalry as we break enemy lines, and most importantly, hold our own.

Re-envision the most iconic battles and turning points from the Game of Thrones series. You decide who wins, and who dies.

In a teaser trailer shared on the official Game of Thrones: War for Westeros YouTube page, we can see the likes of Arya Stark and Gregor 'The Mountain' Clegane, as they activate their abilities. As you can imagine, The Mountain uses his sheer strength to crush hordes of enemies under his weapon, whereas Arya uses her assassin abilities to sneak unseen into the enemy's backlines. As such, it just goes to show that you will have the chance to strategize every fight, and choose which iconic hero will turn the tide of battle in your favor.

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros does not yet have an official release date, but we can expect it to launch on PC some time in 2027.
