Gag Order is a co-op, SCP-ish horror shooter about surviving as best you can against some nasty, tentacle covered cephalopod creatures

Don't let it touch me, please and thank you

What makes Carrion interesting obviously lies in playing as the monster in a horror game rather than being the one chased down by it. The game's nasty tentacle monster still gives me the heebie jeebies, so I really would hate to be hunted by one. This is where I point you towards Gag Order, a shooter where you are in fact hunted by a disgusting cephalopod creature all while tracking down a distress signal.

Gag Order is not designed to be played solo, it feels wrong to call it friendslop given how unfriendly it is in vibes, but it does feel like it fits into a similar lineage as Lethal Company at the very least. In it, you are a research lab's Guardian Unit member, and you get a distress call "from one of the core parts of the complex." Upon arrival, the atmosphere is rotten, and you quickly come to understand that you are not equipped for what you have to deal with.

The solution, then, is to take care of those nightmare-inducing cephalopod creatures. Except during the first phase of a run, it sounds like they're invincible. Your guns do seem to be able to fend them off at the very least, but it's the second phase, which is geared around a "fast paced team-bossight" where it sounds like you'll be trying to take these things down. I'm not quite sure what the process is to get between those two phases, but I'm quite fond of the vibes on display.

It feels a touch reminiscent of 2000s shooters with some slightly contemporary mechanical sensibilities. I'm fond of the light SCP vibes it has going on, alongside the faint surrealness of certain elements like a bunch of crows hanging out in an abandoned office building. Creepy! Good looking stuff. Gag Order is apparently due out by the end of 2026, though we're obviously getting close there, so it's worth keeping an eye on it by throwing it a wishlist on Steam, if it takes your fancy.
