Fremantle is boosting its production and development teams in the U.S. with a pair of senior hires.

Jhamal Robinson has been named Head of U.S. Productions Unscripted and Scripted, with Emily Knight joining as Senior VP of Unscripted Development.

Robinson’s newly created role hands him an extensive portfolio, reporting to Fremantle North America COO Suzanne Lopez. Notably, he’ll oversee U.S. productions from The Mole producer Eureka and Made in America maker Original Productions.

Most recently, the experienced production chief served as Executive Vice President of Physical Production and Head of A.I. Studio at A+E Global Media, where he led the physical and post-production teams while integrating emerging technologies across global content portfolios.

He has also worked as Netflix’s Vice President of Production Management for the U.S. and Canada and has won an Emmy for his work on Clean House with Niecy Nash.

Knight, a British-born exec who has worked out of Hollywood for several years now, joins from AGC Television, where she was Senior Vice President of Development.

She will report to Jimmy Fox, Fremantle’s Executive Vice President of Unscripted Development and Sales, working to develop global formats that could sit alongside the likes of Idol, Got Talent, Jeopardy! and Family Feud.

Knight has previously worked as Head of Development at UK companies such as Expectation and All3 Media’s Maverick, working on series such as Ex on the BeachEscape and reboots of 10 Years Younger and How to Look Good Naked.

“As our production slate continues to grow in both scale and ambition, it’s essential that our leadership team evolves alongside it,” said Lopez, COO, Fremantle North America.  “Adding these two exceptional executives to our leadership team will help ensure Fremantle remains at the forefront of delivering groundbreaking programming across every platform.”

“Fremantle has an extraordinary creative legacy and a robust slate across both unscripted and scripted programming,” said Robinson. “I look forward to partnering with the team to align production and creative pipelines in ways that support our studios and continue delivering premium content for audiences across all viewing platforms.”

“Fremantle is synonymous with world-class unscripted television, and the opportunity to work alongside Jimmy is incredible,” added Knight. “His creative instincts and appetite for scale align perfectly with how I approach development, and I’m so excited to help build the next generation of standout global formats with the fantastic team here.”
