Free Xbox Game Pass Leaves Gamer Floored: "I Can't Go Back"

James is a gaming writer from London who has spent thousands of hours exploring titles from every genre. Though he has a particular affinity for multiplayer titles like World of Warcraft, Destiny 2 and League of Legends, he has also put thousands of hours into single-player experiences, from deep RPGs to epic PC strategies. When he's not playing or writing, he can usually be found supporting his beloved Brentford FC.

Xbox Game Pass has spent several years accruing new titles from across the genre spectrum, with hundreds of games for players to enjoy, regardless of what you're into specifically.

Though price hikes in 2025 undoubtedly hurt consumers, it remains a very compelling offering, and one that bridges the gap between console players and PC gamers, particularly with the support for ecosystems across both (like achievements and profiles).

As with any gaming subscription service, new games are being added all the time, and it's become a great way to play without having to spend lump sums, though with the obvious caveat that you don't own the games, and they could be removed at any point. With that in mind, it seems that Game Pass is continuing to convert players all over the place, as recent social media activity proves.

Free Access To Xbox Game Pass Did The Job

Over on Reddit, one player shared a post detailing how they were given free access to Xbox Game Pass thanks to a Webtoon promotion and, now they've sampled everything it has to offer, they aren't sure they'll ever be able to go back.

"I am a big RPG fan and every second week a good RPG is coming, like Avowed, The Witcher 3, KCD1 and KCD 2 and now Cyberpunk. I finished Avowed, The Outer Worlds, Assassin's Creed Origins and KCD 2 with more than 50 Hours. I heard Xbox Game Pass is not worth it, but seeing these games is insane," the post reads.

It's absolutely a fair observation, and for RPG fans in particular, there are thousands of hours of potential enjoyment available on the service. Others were inclined to agree as well, with one saying, "I enjoy Game Pass, it saves me way more money than it costs. I share it with my son, which keeps me from having to buy two versions of every game we play together."

"It’s absolutely worth it. Beyond just the RPGs, the real value is having the freedom to experiment with different genres. Without it, you’d be forced to buy every single game just to see if it’s your style. Honestly, people just love to hate on a good thing," another added.

Xbox Game Pass Is Killing It This Year

In all fairness to those running Game Pass right now, the service has made an incredibly strong start to 2026, adding a raft of major releases from the last few years. As well as the aforementioned Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and Cyberpunk 2077, other hits that debuted include Resident Evil Village, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Outside of that, there's plenty more to get stuck into, so if you were on the fence about signing up for Xbox Game Pass, now seems to be as good a time as any to do so.
