Yesterday saw the official launch of the 30th Anniversary Set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, and with 128 brand-new cards to collect, stunning new designs, and limited-edition runs, it is safe to say that trying to get your hands on a set is a bit like finding a needle in a haystack. So much so, that retailers such as Target had to take extreme measures in order to make stocks last.

Including 199 cards total: 128 main-set cards (including 30 Pikachu), 33 Secret Rares, 30 Classic Collection cards, and 8 special foil Basic Energy cards, this new set is a must-have for Pokémon Trading Card Game players, especially following the news that one card can now be earned for free.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pokémon and, of course, the release of the 30th Anniversary Set, participating retailers are now giving away a rare Mewtwo card, but, as you can expect, you will have to move fast in order to secure yours.

The card in question features Mewtwo in all their glory as they are depicted in their original form alongside a stamp of the 30th anniversary celebrations. However, as a limited-edition run, this card will only be available in select stores and regions, but luckily, we have the full list for you here:

As you can see, this will not be a worldwide release, and so if you are in Europe, you are bang out of luck. However, if you are in the participating regions, you will have to make sure that you head to your local retailer from 2 October onwards in the hopes of securing yourself this stunning Mewtwo card before it is gone forever.

As the official Pokémon website says, "Commemorate the release of the upcoming Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion, 30th Celebration, with a special promo card featuring the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo. The promo card will feature the Pokémon 30 and What’s Your Favorite logos, making it a unique addition to your Pokémon TCG collection."

The post also laid down the ground rules, adding, "Starting October 2, 2026, spend $15 or more on Pokémon TCG products at the following retailers, and you’ll receive the Mewtwo promo card as a gift with purchase."

Additionally, the card comes alongside a separate card featuring a QR code which will direct fans to learn more about the Pokémon Night Out experience.

So, if you want the chance to get your hands on a limited-edition Mewtwo card, make sure to head to select retailers this October, spend at least $15, and hope for the best in order to add this stunning freebie to your Pokémon Trading Card Game collection.
