Frasier's Toks Olagundoye & Anders Keith Tease Season 2

2 days ago 2

Frasier returned in October 2023 with a new series with the same name. It follows the fan-favorite character, played by Kelsey Grammer, as he moves to Boston to be with his son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) and teach psychology at Harvard. Olivia Finch (Toks Olagundoye) is the one who successfully recruits Frasier to Harvard. David Crane (Anders Keith) is the son of Niles and Daphne. He is also a major character in Frasier as he attends Harvard and is often hanging around with his uncle.

Toks Olagundoye is also known for her role in Arcane, as the voice of Mel Medarda. It is currently unknown if she will return in Arcane season 2, but fans are certainly rooting for it. Frasier is Anders Keith's first major role, but considering how fantastic he is in the series, it certainly will not be his last. Frasier season 2 premieres exclusively on Paramount+ on September 19.

Screen Rant interviewed Toks Olagundoye and Anders Keith in advance of the upcoming season of Frasier. The two discuss how filming in front of a live audience is the best of both worlds, as it is very similar to theater acting. They also reveal what they were excited to explore with their characters this season.

Filming In Front Of A Live Audience Is "The Best Of Both Worlds"

"There is absolutely nothing like it in the entire world."

Screen Rant: What is it like filming in front of a live audience?

Toks Olagundoye: It's the best. It's the best because we all come from theater, so we all love theater, but we are in this business, and we love filming as well. The wonderful thing about theater is the live audience and being able to rehearse and really get into it. And the wonderful thing about television is you get to do something different every day, and you get to stop in the middle if you've messed up and do it again. This is the best of both worlds.

We get to rehearse, but we get to do something different every week. We get the live audience, but we get to stop if something isn't right and rewrite it in the moment and rework it. I mean, that live audience, it's so much fun. A lot of people don't know there's a comedian up there, and he's like taking care of the audience while we're rewriting things or getting our makeup done or setting up a new scene. We feel all of that energy, too. When the music is playing and everybody's excited to be there, there's nothing like it in the world. Absolutely nothing like it in the entire world.

Anders Keith: Yeah, I would say so. The audience is certainly the missing component. It'll be Friday, and we'll do the studio run through, and you trust that it's good, but you're like, "OK, OK, I feel good, but there's still something not there." It's the audience. They arrive, and it completes the whole space. The energy is now complete.

Screen Rant: I would think it is like improv, in a way.

Toks Olagundoye: Yeah, in a way, because you have to be able to adjust. I mean, Jack was talking about it last night. You'll think that something is going to work and it doesn't. You think that something's not going to work and it does. And sort of in the moment, when you're getting that reaction, you have to pivot.

You have to really honor what the audience is giving you, because that's the indication of whether or not it's working and where you need to go. We're all pretty good at pivoting at the same time so that you can still play off of each other. And it makes it organic. Having the audience, that makes it organic and fresh, because we still have to pay attention to that energy.

Anders Keith: It's awesome that what they tell us about the show is omni important. They just have a perspective that we can't have. Thanks, audience. Thank you for making it all possible.

Toks Olagundoye & Anders Keith Reveal Favorite Frasier Season 2 Moments

This season we see Olivia's dorky side, and David falls in love.

Frasier and Eve in Frasier season 2

Screen Rant: Do you have a favorite Frasier season 2 storyline for your character?

Toks Olagundoye: Oh, boy. I mean, they're all great. I just love that this season you get to see the really dorky, innocent side of Olivia. The really weird side of her. And that's the through line for the character this season. I've enjoyed playing it and I think it's very interesting to watch, too.

Anders Keith: I've enjoyed it, too. David, he's a sophomore in college. He's got all the trappings of being a young person figuring out what kind of adult they want to become. He falls in love. He gets power and goes crazy. He lashes out at someone who he cares very deeply for on the inside. Lots of fun things occur. I did enjoy that first episode, though. That was pretty fun. With the ham.

Toks Olagundoye: There's other food stuff.

Anders Keith: Yeah, there's other food related things. You'll see.
