Act surprised: the Forza Horizon 6 release date does appear to be 19th May - a date we're expecting to be announced during this evening's Xbox Developer Direct.

Reliable leaker Dealabs corroborated the date as well as details about the different editions of the game. This isn't very exciting; there will be a Standard, Deluxe and Premium edition, and a physical version for Xbox Series X.

We've heard this May date before, from a Forza Horizon 6 leak earlier this month, which revealed we'd get an extra Ferrari if we pre-ordered the game. In the game, that is - not a Ferrari not in real life.

The open-world setting for this instalment of Forza Horizon will be Japan, but so far we've only seen a cinematic teaser for the game so we could do with seeing a chunk of gameplay footage, which we presumably will, today.

We also already know that Forza Horizon 6 will come to PlayStation 5, but this version won't launch alongside the Xbox and PC versions in May. "Forza Horizon 6 will launch first on Xbox consoles and PC in 2026," Microsoft said in a statement in September. "Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios are also working together to bring Forza Horizon 6 to PlayStation 5 post-launch."

Today's Xbox Developer Direct starts at 6pm GMT and we'll be covering it live on Eurogamer.
