Melissa Leong has finally had some good news where her career is concerned.

The former MasterChef Australia star has been announced as the latest host to fill in the KIIS FM breakfast radio slot left vacant by the cancellation of The Kyle and Jackie O Show earlier this year.

Sharing a newspaper clip that teased 'another breakfast host' joining the show, the 44-year-old was quick to confirm she was the mystery star in question.

'Not just "yet another". This one's me!' Melissa wrote on Instagram.

'Thrilled to be back on the air and in your ears as your guest host! See you next week on @kiis1065! Tell your mum!'

Melissa's famous friends were quick to offer support, flooding her comments section with promises to listen in.

'I’m there,' wrote singer and podcaster Em Rusciano, while television host Julia Morris said: 'Now we mean business! Bravo.'

Georgie Tunny commented: 'Woot woot', with Marie Claire editor Georgie McCourt adding: 'Yes! What a guest'.

It's good news for Melissa, who in May endured the shock axing of her comeback SBS series, Taste of Art.

The show was sensationally dropped by SBS last week hours before its scheduled premiere after Melissa's co-host chef Vaughan Mabee became embroiled in a workplace misconduct scandal.

Posting to Instagram, Melissa expressed her 'great disappointment' over the circumstances that led to her new project being binned.

A source told Daily Mail Australia that SBS's decision to axe Taste of Art is a serious career setback for Melissa.

'This was supposed to be an important reset project for Melissa,' they said.

'Instead, it's become another setback tied to controversy and bad timing.'

The cancellation comes amid ongoing scrutiny over Leong's television future following her exit from MasterChef in 2023.

While the broadcaster has not indicated whether Taste of Art will air at a later date, insiders say the chances now appear slim.

'It's incredibly unfortunate timing for Melissa,' one source claims.

'She had nothing to do with the allegations, but from a public perception standpoint, this becomes another project associated with disappointment and instability.'

Following her dramatic exit from MasterChef in 2023, Melissa maintained that she left the program 'on her own terms' following a 'magical' four-year tenure.

A Channel 10 spokesperson told the Australian Financial Review that Melissa's departure from the show was down to 'scheduling issues' following rumours of a feud between her and fellow judges Andy Allen and the late Jock Zonfrillo.

After leaving MasterChef at the end of 2023, Melissa was seen on the network's Dessert Masters.
