Last awards season, Variety and CNN partnered on the Oscars red carpet, Actors on Actors and a one-of-a-kind town hall with Timothée Chalamet.

Now, this fall, the two venerable brands are teaming up again. CNN and Variety will deliver exclusive live pre-show coverage from the red carpet of the 78th Emmy Awards.

CNN correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister and Variety co-president and co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh will serve as hosts for the event, titled “CNN & Variety Red Carpet Live: TV’s Biggest Night.” The stream airs on Monday, Sept. 14, at 5 p.m. ET on CNN.com/watch and on the CNN app for CNN’s streaming subscribers.

Wagmeister and Setoodeh last appeared together as hosts of the Oscar pre-show in March. The duo, industry veterans and former colleagues at Variety, will bring their deep knowledge and expertise of all things Hollywood to deliver up-to-the-minute commentary on TV’s biggest party. The stream will feature exclusive interviews and must-see moments.

“CNN & Variety Red Carpet Live: TV’s Biggest Night” expands a partnership that most recently produced the latest season of the Daytime Emmy-nominated “Actors on Actors” franchise. Season 24 featured talent at the center of this year’s Emmy Awards, including host and nominee Mariska Hargitay and nominees Jamie Lee Curtis, Colman Domingo, Sally Field, Claire Danes, Lisa Kudrow, Noah Wyle, Sarah Pidgeon and Rhea Seehorn. This season drew strong audiences for CNN, and ranked among the top drivers of new CNN All Access subscriptions in June during its premiere.

Wagmeister’s own awards coverage through her new CNN series “Coming Up,” featuring interviews with Emmy-nominated actors, can be streamed now at CNN.com/watch and on the CNN app for CNN’s streaming subscribers.

The 78th Emmy Awards air live Monday, Sept. 14, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
