‘Fire Country’ Pulled This Week Amid LA Fires, ‘Chicago Fire’ Airing Tonight As Scheduled

CBS’ Fire Country would’ve hit too close to home this week. With that in mind, out of sensitivity to the devastation in the Los Angeles area and out of respect for the tens of thousands impacted by the massive Southern California fires, the scheduled repeat of the Northern California firefighter drama this Friday is being pulled. A rerun of NCIS: Sydney will air in its place. CBS’ Jan. 10 lineup will consist of NCIS: Sydney repeats at 8 PM and 9 PM, followed by a S.W.A.T. encore at 10 PM.

There will be no change to NBC’s schedule tonight, with One Chicago returning after a holiday hiatus, including a new episode of Chicago Fire. Per the released synopsis, in the episode, Cruz’s past comes back to haunt him, Severide prepares to teach an arson class at the academy while Mouch searches for a victim’s next of kin.

ABC’s first responder drama 9-1-1, which is set in Los Angeles, is currently on hiatus, returning in March.

From creators and executive producers Tony Phelan, Joan Rater and Max Thieriot, Fire Country was inspired by Thieriot’s personal experiences, including during the 2017 North Bay firestorm. It follows Bode Donovan (Thieriot), a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining a prison release firefighting program in Northern California, which sends him back to his hometown.

Chicago Fire, produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment. revolves around the firefighters, rescue squad and paramedics of Chicago Firehouse 51. The series stars Taylor Kinney, Miranda Rae Mayo, Joe Miñoso, Christian Stolte, Daniel Kyri, Hanako Greensmith and Jocelyn Hudon, with Dermot Mulroney as the new fire chief.
