David Fincher's 1999 cult classic Fight Club is returning to movie theaters in April. The one-night-only theatrical run will take place on April 22, giving audiences a chance to see the film in 4K Ultra HD ahead of its upcoming Blu-ray rerelease.
According to a news release, the 4K Ultra HD release will bring "renewed intensity and clarity to Fincher’s uncompromising vision, enhancing the film’s striking cinematography and immersive sound design for both longtime fans and first-time viewers." At least theatrically, there will be plenty of first-time viewers; despite its iconic status, Fight Club was not a runaway box office success when it was originally released, earning $101 million against its $63 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.
Fight Club will be rereleased in 4K Steelbook form and 4K Digital starting May 12. The Blu-ray release of the film will include a staggering number of features, from "packaging worthy of its iconic status" to commentary from director David Fincher and Chuck Palahniuk, who wrote the 1996 novel upon which the film is based.
The 4K Ultra HD Digital release's bonus content includes:
- Commentary by director David Fincher
- Commentary by David Fincher, Brad Pitt, Edward Norton & Helena Bonham Carter
- Writers’ Commentary by Chuck Palahniuk and Jim Uhls
- Technical Commentary by Alex McDowell, Jeff Cronenweth, Michael Kaplan & Kevin Haug

No word yet on when it will be available for purchase, but New Regency and Insight Editions say more info on the art book will be available soon.
