Felicity Huffman's nepo baby Sophia Macy, 25, makes rare appearance at premiere... years after college admissions scandal

Felicity Huffman and William H Macy's daughter made a rare appearance on Tuesday night when she hit the red carpet for the premiere of the upcoming HBO series Rooster.

Sophia Macy, the couple's eldest child, plays Ronni on the show. 

The 25-year-old actress tends to keep a low profile, even seven years on from the Varsity Blues scandal that led to Huffman's brief prison stint.

Sophia, whose mother struggled to find work as a convicted felon, was joined on the red carpet in New York City by a bevy of stars, including Steve Carell, Zach Braff and Connie Britton, among others.

The nepo baby rocked an edgy black leather jacket that was belted around her midriff. She paired it with a set of matching black leather pants and black heels, and she wore her strawberry blonde bob swept back behind her ears. 

Huffman was sentenced to 11 days in federal prison as part of her plea deal in the 2019 college admissions scandal.

The crime operation, focused on corruption in academia, also saw Full House star Lori Loughlin and designer Mossimo Giannulli convicted and sent to prison.

Huffman was initially taken into custody in March 2019 in connection with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud; she was subsequently released on $250,000 bail. 

Huffman entered a guilty plea in May 2019, admitting to paying $15,000 for a proctor to correct wrong answers on Sophia's SATs.

Huffman confirmed she routed payments through an admissions official named William Singer via his nonprofit Key Worldwide Foundation, which prosecutors said was set up as a front to accept payoffs.

In her admission to the court, Huffman acknowledged that the scam required changing the location where Sophia was taking her test, as she used a neuropsychologist to write a note supporting the change.

Huffman, who played Lynette Scavo on ABC's Desperate Housewives, also received one year of probation, a fine of $30,000 and 250 hours of community service in connection with her plea deal.

Huffman told The Guardian in 2024 that she felt like she was 'still processing' the bizarre turn of events as she sought to methodically rebuild her show business career.

She said that it's 'sort of like your old life died and you died with it,' adding, 'I'm lucky enough to have a family and love and means, so I had a place to land.' 

Carell stars in Rooster as a popular author who visits his daughter on a college campus after her husband leaves her in favor of a grad student. 

The former Office star sported a short salt-and-pepper beard and made the odd choice of combining a brown suit with a black shirt and an even stranger black tie featuring tonal stripes.

He was joined on the red carpet by Charly Clive, who plays his daughter. She wore a charcoal miniskirt and a matching sport coat, styled with a white button-up blouse and dark heels.

Britton added some color to the proceedings with a dark purple top featuring voluminous sleeves, along with matching slacks and brown-suede boots.

Co-star Natasha Bedingfield looked cool and casual in a fuzzy black jacket with baggy black striped pants and clunky black platform boots. 

Danielle Deadwyler, who also features in the series, looked glamorous in a sleeveless black dress with a long train and pointy black heels.

Scrubs star Braff blended casual and dress styles, pairing a lustrous dark blue suit with a blue-and-white striped shirt and weathered sneakers.

Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein fit the autumnal backdrop with a thigh-length black coat, a gray sweatshirt and black jeans with matching boots. 

He posed with the comedian Jamie Lee, who stayed cozy in a black sweater with midnight blue satin slacks.

Carla Gugino showcased her stellar figure in a skintight semi-sheer black top, which she contrasted with baggy black slacks and thick boots.

Maria Bello glowed in a brilliant white jacket and matching top, which she contrasted with pleated black slacks and matching boots. 

Righteous Gemstones actor Scott MacArthur arrived in a thin black coat with a gray button-up shirt, dark jeans and brown Chelsea boots.

Tate Moore stunned in a black leather off-the-shoulder minidress and dark heels. 

The comedian Robby Hoffman stood out on the red carpet in a key lime green shirt with dark pants and square-toed black leather shoes. 

Her fellow comedian and actor, Rory Scovel, opted for a tasteful gray plaid overcoat with a royal blue sweater, black pinstripe trousers and black leather shoes. 

Scrubs star John C McGinley showed off an infectious smile while wearing a black suit and gray tie, as well as oddly casual black loafers.

Broadway veteran Lena Hall kept her look simple with a brown sleeveless spaghetti-strap dress.

Succession star Alan Ruck looked snazzy in a mottled gray three-piece suit and brown wingtip derby shoes.

Former REM frontman Michael Stipe was layered up with a gray denim jacket and white jeans, with a yellow plaid shirt and matching yellow moccasins to add some color. He completed the look with a black cashmere jacket draped over his shoulders and a red beanie.

John McEnroe was joined at the premiere by his younger brother Patrick McEnroe and Patrick's wife, the singer and actress Melissa Errico.

The tennis icon wore a gray double-breasted overcoat with a teal shirt, black jeans and sneakers, while Patrick wore a blue blazer and jeans and Melissa rocked a patterned black velvet dress.

American Horror Story actor Denis O'Hare wore an autumnal striped sweater with an olive-colored corduroy sport coat, beige trousers and gray suede shoes with bright yellow soles.

Scrubs mastermind Bill Lawrence, who co-created Rooster, wore a blue plaid suit and dark tie. 

Rooster debuts on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, March 8.
