Fatman Scoop's ex-wife Shanda Freeman took to social media to break her silence following the renowned DJ's death at age 53.

The longtime radio personality collapsed while performing on stage in Hamden, Connecticut on Friday night, with stars like Missy Elliott paying respects online shortly after.

On Saturday, Freeman shared multiple photos with the New York-based entertainer and wrote, 'We made history. We were the FIRST. I'm heartbroken. I love you. Always.'

Shanda and Scoop, whose real name was Isaac Freeman III, were together for 13 years before divorcing.

They starred on an MTV reality TV show called Man & Wife, about their lives as married couple in the hip-hop community, in 2008.

The Be Faithful hitmaker's cause of death is unknown.

Following his sudden collapse, he was given CPR and rushed to hospital.

The artist's family announced his death on Saturday, posting a message to Scoop's 200,000 followers. 

'It is with profound sadness and very heavy hearts that we share news of the passing of the legendary and iconic FatMan Scoop,' the note began. 

It continued, 'Last night, the world lost a radiant soul, a beacon of light on the stage and in life.'

The statement described him as a 'world class performer' and 'a father, brother, uncle and a friend.'

'He was the laughter of our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength, and courage,' it was noted. 

'FatMan Scoop was known to the world as the undisputed voice of the club. His music made us dance and embrace life with positivity,' it was shared.

Taking to the comments section, rapper Lil Jon wrote, 'REST WELL BROTHER,' while Scoop's frequent collaborator Timbaland appeared lost for words and posted a string of emojis.

Missy Elliot paid tribute as well, writing 'Prayers for Fatman Scoop's family for STRENGTH during this difficult time. Fatman Scoop's VOICE & energy have contributed to MANY songs that made the people feel HAPPY & want to dance for over 2 decades. Your IMPACT is HUGE & will be NEVER be forgotten.'

Questlove simply wrote: 'Thank you Scoop!'

And singer Crystal Waters added: 'He was one of the most wonderful people I've ever met. He truly will be missed. Love and prayers out to his family.'
