Fatima's Pregnancy Twist Explained: What's Really Inside Her In From Season 3?

4 days ago 4

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for From season 3, episode 6.

From season 3, episode 6, "Scar Tissue" brings a shocking twist to the pregnancy of Fatima (Pegah Ghafoori). Fatima first shared with Ellis (Corteon Moore) in season 2 that she was pregnant, despite being unable to conceive in the outside world. What they wanted to believe was a miracle has quickly taken a sinister turn, particularly in From season 3, episode 2, when Fatima began to crave and willingly eat rotten crops while she felt unable to stomach any other food.

Her cravings escalate into even more unnatural territory in From season 3, episode 4, as Fatima begins consuming blood from the dead body of Nicky (Tamara Fifield). Fatima does not know what is wrong with her and is scared of what the truth may be. The answer to this mystery begins to become clearer with the ambulance that brings Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno) back to the Town, with the ambulance carrying an ultrasound that can show Fatima what is happening to her pregnancy.

An Ultrasound Reveals Fatima Isn't Actually Pregnant In From Season 3

The Problem Isn't What She Thought It Was

When Fatima goes to the medical clinic, the ultrasound shows that there is no baby growing inside of her. Fatima insists that Kristi (Chloe Van Landschoot) and Marielle (Kaelen Ohm) look again, but a second time does not change the result of the ultrasound. Fatima had assumed that her cravings for rotten crops and human blood were because of an issue with her pregnancy, but if she is not pregnant, the source of her cravings remains a mystery.

Every Death In From Season 3 Explained

The death toll continues to rise in From season 3 as more characters, both from the main and supporting cast, lose their lives in brutal fashion.

It is possible that Fatima is pregnant, not with a human, but with one of From's vicious monsters or something even worse growing inside of her that the ultrasound cannot detect. The Town torments each individual in a personal way that hurts them the most. Making an infertile woman pregnant, but with a literal monster child, is on par with the twisted way that the Town individually tortures its residents. At the very least, the ultrasound confirms that Fatima is not pregnant with a human baby.

Is Fatima Infected By The Monsters In From?

It Would Have To Be Different From Boyd's Infection In Season 2

The creatures mock Randall in From season 3, episode 4

Another possibility is that the monsters have infected Fatima, with this infection being the reason why she had her cravings. The infection could be the source of her feeling sick and only being able to eat rotten crops and blood. Fatima may be slowly transforming into one of the monsters or even into the ghost lady seen by Elgin (Nathan D. Simmons). The main issue with this possibility is that there is not a clear moment where she would have been infected, akin to the blood of Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau) getting infected at the beginning of season 2.

Boyd became infected when he was in the Tower with Martin in season 2.

If Fatima or From's other characters cannot figure out whether she is infected, pregnant with a monster, or if something else is happening to her, she may not survive season 3. The season already began with the devastating loss of Tian-Chen Liu (Elizabeth Moy). Fatima's potentially dark end is being gradually built up more than the sudden and shocking death of Tian-Chen, but losing Fatima would still be incredibly devastating, especially for Ellis. Time is running out in From season 3 to uncover the truth and save Fatima.
