Powderfinger are hitting the road for a reunion tour in 2027.

But when the hotly-anticipated tickets went on general sale on Monday, many fans got a shock when they reached the checkout.

The band's Live 27 tour, their first since 2010, has a price range of $141 to $233, depending on seat and location, with VIP tickets costing around $510.

Those figures angered many fans who had once paid much less to see the iconic act back in their 1990s and 2000s heyday.

'The price of the tickets is obscene,' wrote one person on social media.

'Their tickets cost more than an international band who have to freight their gear to Australia as well as travel,' they added.

Another said: 'If anyone has Powderfinger tickets they can't use I have a soul for sale!'

'It's wild we're in a cost of living crisis but somehow tens of thousands of people have $200+ available for Powderfinger tickets,' wrote someone else.

One more person complained: 'I had the option of standing for $500. Get f**ked. I'm old, my back hurts, my hips hurt, I just want to feel comfortable when I see a great Australian band for the first time since I was 20-something'.

Another posted: 'Why the f**k was everyone going berko over tickets for yet another corporate sellout band (Powderfinger)? Ridiculous.'

'The cheapest tickets are standing, close to $200 each and on a damn Monday evening at 5pm. Is this normal?' asked someone else.

Despite the complaints of high prices, many fans said they had missed out because the tickets were selling 'like hot cakes.'

The 2027 reunion tour is already completely sold out.

'Started in the queue with less than 1000 people in front of me. Couldn't even get a single ticket,' complained one fan.

One more wrote: 'I didn't realise how much I wanted Powderfinger tickets until I didn't get Powderfinger tickets.'

Others are delighted to see their favourite band after such a long hiatus, cost be damned.

'There has always been one band I regretted never seeing live. That was Powderfinger. This morning I got tickets to their concert next year! Happy days!' wrote one enthused person.

Powderfinger are touring nationally from September 2027 in what will be their first tour in 17 years, starting in Brisbane and heading to Cairns, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.
