Fallout: New Vegas is widely regarded as one of the best video games of all time, but much like many titles released in the early 2000s, technology has left it behind when it comes to graphics and performance.

For many, this changes nothing, as the 2010 Obsidian Entertainment RPG is perfect the way it is, with many players still booting it up to this day regardless of its technological limitations. However, for those who would love Fallout: New Vegas to run smoother, especially on newer hardware, this little trick offers what many would consider a free "remaster".

Fallout New Vegas Has A Free Remaster... Kind Of

 New Vegas

Despite rumours of a Fallout: New Vegas official remaster being in the works, alongside a matching one for Fallout 3, this has not yet been confirmed by Bethesda and so players are left to explore the game as it looked back in 2010. However, with New Vegas not only being widely regarded as one of the best video game releases of all time, it is also considered the best Fallout entry and so a little bit of jank is not a problem for its biggest fans.

Nevertheless, we all appreciate some extra frames and, courtesy of Youtuber Popontop, there is a way to experience Fallout: New Vegas at 60fps, and all it takes is a brief system tweak that many of us do not know about.

Explained in a video posted to their channel, heading to Fallout: New Vegas in your library and selecting 'Manage game and add-ons' and then 'Compability Options' will allow you to select the 'FPS boost' option which, in turn, will increase the game's frame rate.

The Youtuber shows us this example on the Xbox Series X which, back in 2021, introduced backwards compatibility to some of its games as well as enhancements for those selected.

New Vegas Is Available On Game Pass With A Graphical Boost

 New Vegas.

Perhaps most exciting is the news that Fallout: New Vegas is now available for free for Xbox Game Pass Premium members, meaning that the £8.99 title is now free to play, no catch. On top of that, with the little FPS trick courtesy of Popontop, you will be able to play the 2010 game with an improved frame rate.

In the video shared to their Youtube channel, it is clear to see the difference that an improved frame rate can make and your overall time in the Mojave Desert will be a lot smoother and faster, with players pointing out that loading times are much quicker with the update.

Now we can only imagine what that official remaster could look like...
