James is a gaming writer from London who has spent thousands of hours exploring titles from every genre. Though he has a particular affinity for multiplayer titles like World of Warcraft, Destiny 2 and League of Legends, he has also put thousands of hours into single-player experiences, from deep RPGs to epic PC strategies. When he's not playing or writing, he can usually be found supporting his beloved Brentford FC.
Fallout might have been out for over a decade at this point but players are still finding ways to have a great time in Bethesda's most recent post-apocalyptic adventure. It's a good thing too, as Todd Howard has made it very clear that we aren't getting another game in the series until after The Elder Scrolls VI, and there is still no sign of the latter arriving any time soon.
A big part of Fallout 4's longevity has been the game's immense modding community who continue to release everything from small quality-of-life changes to major overhauls that change the very foundations of the game itself. Now, there's another download available that adds a ton of new quests to the base game, and in a way that remains true to the existing lore of the series.
Who Needs Fallout 5 At This Point?
Bethesda EntertainmentOver on Nexus Mods, you should be able to find the download page for Atom's Retribution 2, a huge story expansion that settles on the radiation and nuclear obsessed cult, The Children of Atom. It's a hugely ambitious project with the developer promising upwards of 24 hours of additional quests to play through and enjoy.
With over two years of work going into the release, it's easy to see how they were able to include so much. Excitingly, and remaining true to the form of the original game, the mod also gives you the chance to make meaningful choices along the way, that affect exactly how it all plays out in the end.
"Featuring more than 30 faction quests, Atom’s Retribution 2 allows the player to rise through the Glow, uncover lost sects, execute divine judgment, and reshape the wasteland through Atom’s radiant will.
While other factions such as the Institute, the Railroad, and the Brotherhood offer only small, isolated missions against the Children of Atom, the Atom’s Retribution questline stands as a complete, branching campaign.
Players may fully embrace Atom and purge every rival faction, or they may side with those factions and attempt to extinguish Atom’s light, with each path offering unique consequences and alternate endings."
The Children of Atom have always been one of the more interesting and unique organizations in the Fallout series, so it's nice to see them given a more major spotlight here.
Fallout Fans Are Keeping Fallout 4 Alive
Bethesda EntertainmentFallout fans are continuing to outdo themselves all the time, essentially running cover for Bethesda while we wait for the next game in the series. At this rate, it seems like they could do so indefinitely, so fingers crossed the wait for Fallout 5 doesn't become too unbearable.
