Charles Leclerc gushed over becoming a new dad on Friday as he said welcoming his first child with his wife Alexandra Saint Mleux has been a 'very special moment'.

The couple, who married in Monaco in February, made the announcement on social media to welcome their new daughter Bianca earlier this week.

In a joint-post on Instagram, they shared a photo of Bianca's legs and feet wrapped up, with the caption: 'Bianca. 3.11.26', alongside a love heart.

On Friday Leclerc, 29, then broke his silence on the new addition to their family as he spoke at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

He said: 'It's definitely the most special thing ever and you kind of expect it, because I always wanted to be a young dad. And obviously with Alex it felt like the right time.

'And it's a very special moment. It's a week I will forever remember for all the positive reasons. This week was all about Bianca and it's been incredible.'

Leclerc flew back to Monaco in the aftermath of last Sunday's Mexican Grand Prix in order to attend the birth.

Bianca's arrival comes eight months after the Ferrari driver and 25-year-old art historian Alexandra tied the knot in his homeland, a week before the 2026 season began.

Their miniature dachshund, Leo, was among those at the picturesque ceremony, and the newlyweds were later filmed driving away in a vintage Ferrari.

Following the big day, Leclerc revealed a number of details in a social media video, including showing off his new wife's dress, the exchanging of the rings and their dog's presence.

Footage also showed the couple being greeted and congratulated by their guests, with another clip showing them driving in the Ferrari.

It was a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, which costs around £9million, driven by the nine-time Grand Prix winner.

It is one of the most valuable vintage Ferraris, particularly given the racing success and significance of the model for the legendary Italian company.

He also posted on X: 'A day we'll forever remember. Part one is done and part 2 will be next year with all of our close ones.'

Leclerc had previously spoken about wanting to start a family alongside his career.

Alexandra, 25, is a regular alongside her husband and dog Leo in the Formula One paddock

Last year, he said: 'I have more personal aspirations, like starting a family, which I can achieve by continuing to chase the world title.'

The couple are regularly seen together alongside Leo at races, although this behaviour was criticised by former British driver David Coulthard back in September.

Leclerc is currently fifth in the drivers' standings and Coulthard claimed his actions in the paddock were doing 'too much'.

'He's good looking, he's got the family, a baby on the way, a dog in the paddock,' Coulthard said on the Up To Speed podcast. 'My opinion is that's all a bit too much, frankly.

'It's not a weekend away picnic, is it? It's a Grand Prix, it's a serious business. It's a dangerous business, but that's probably me being of an older generation.

'They (Ferrari) don't have a choice. They've employed two of the best drivers in the world. You then manage them as best you can.'
