In addition to being a die-hard fan of filmmaking, television, video gaming, and anything else with a gripping narrative, Aidan Kelley is also a passionate and detail-oriented writer and journalist at Collider.com. In addition to his work as a Senior Resource Writer, Aidan has also contributed to Collider's features and news reporting sections. He has covered major industry events, such as San Diego Comic-Con and the D23 Expo, and has had the privelege of interviewing industry stars like Bruce CampbellMaggie QChad Stahelski, and more. This sincere love for the art of storytelling began at a young age, with Aidan making video movie reviews for the news program at his local high school. That love only increased over the years, with an ongoing career in independent filmmaking and screenwriting after graduating with a degree in Film and television from DePaul University.

You've seen him duel Sith Lords in Star Wars, you've seen him duet with Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge, now get ready to see Ewan McGregor dodge dinosaurs alongside Anne Hathaway in the brand-new sci-fi thriller, The End of Oak Street, which just dropped its official first trailer. Directed by It Follows filmmaker David Robert Mitchell and produced by J.J. Abrams, The End of Oak Street sticks to the latter's famous proclivity for the "mystery box" concept by mysteriously sending an ordinary suburban family across time and space without any explanation of why. Before the family can even process what in the world is going on here, they soon find themselves pursued by a massive reptilian creature, seemingly confirming that the new thriller is looking to stake its claim in the "dino thriller" genre that's long been dominated by the Jurassic Park series.

The introduction of a dinosaur antagonist at the end of the trailer is certainly interesting, as McGregor previously played coy about his new sci-fi movie featuring the prehistoric creatures in a 2024 interview with Collider's Maggie Lovitt. While promoting his drama Bleeding Love alongside his daughter Clara McGregor, the Obi-Wan Kenobi star claimed he had no idea why the internet thought The End of Oak Street had dinosaurs in it.

"Well, I don't know where they're getting dinosaurs from. That may or may not be the case. But no, I like [David Robert] very much, this film director, and I like very much the idea of working with Anne Hathaway. I've got a feeling that I think the two of us as parents will be… Yeah, I'm trying not to say anything. I've spoiled that part. We're both parents. It's gonna be fun, I think. It's difficult to say more about it without saying anything about it. I think you've got to take everything with a pinch of salt that you read online at the moment, you know what I mean?"

Who Stars in 'The End of Oak Street'

Co-leading the ensemble cast of The House at the End of Oak Street is Ewan McGregor, who recently returned to the Star Wars galaxy in the Disney+ limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi. While it was great to see McGregor reunite with his prequel trilogy co-star Hayden Christensen, fans have still been clamoring to see him play the role of Master Kenobi once again, which McGregor has consistently advocated for since the show's premiere. Starring alongside McGregor is Anne Hathaway, who is leading two of 2026's most anticipated movies with both The Devil Wears Prada 2 and The Odyssey. Rounding out the members of the Platt family are Maisy Stella, who is set to star in Prime Video's video game adaptation of Life Is Strange, as well as Sweet Tooth and Invincible star Christian Convery.

The End of Oak Street premieres in theaters on August 16, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
