One of the most well-known anime characters and Konoha's Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki, has experience many different phases of his life in terms of strength. From the weakest student to the strongest shinobi, Naruto, who was judged, mocked, praised, and adored, walked through fire to prove himself. The Seventh Hokage's different forms throughout the years have either intimidated his friends or opponents; however, not all forms gave him equal strength.
As Naruto's opponents got stronger, and so did he. Naruto's dream of becoming the Hokage was never hopeless through his perseverance, abilities, and the few but strong shinobis that helped mentor him. The Seventh Hokage's immeasurable determination and deep desire to protect the people he cares about have always fueled his growth. His bond with Kurama, the nine-tailed fox, was also key, giving him massive chakra reserves and powerful abilities that helped him break past his limits repeatedly. And among all those transformations and growth, some of his forms stood out, helping Naruto become the strongest shinobi of his generation.
10 The Basic Form
Started Naruto Off With A Big Powerup
Naruto started with little to no set of special skills aside from his seemingly endless reserves of chakra. He mainly relied on his Shadow Clone Jutsu and the Rasengan. Right from the beginning, Naruto already possessed the demon fox, which gave him a considerable amount of chakra, allowing him to have exceptional endurance and use his techniques to their maximum capability.

"It Had to Be Him": Naruto's Creator Had One Condition For Continuing the Franchise With Boruto
Naruto's creator spoke in an interview about the conditions he laid out for Boruto to be created. He could only entrust a dear friend with his legacy.
Despite initially being considered the least talented ninja among Naruto's Konoha 11, the title hero's determination, unpredictability, and creativity helpped him win fights. In his first major battle against Haku, young Naruto taps into the Nine-Tails' chakra for the first time to protect Sasuke, which hints at the immense power within him. Also, with a little help from the Nine-Tails, he defeated the genius, Neji Hyuga. This form has helped him win some tough fights, but it was something that he himself couldn't control, putting his life at stake.
9 The Nine-Tails Chakra Cloak
Makes Naruto Destructive
As he grew older, Naruto was able to transform into an incomplete form of Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox that had been sealed within him. He could manifest one, three, four, six, seven, and eight-tail forms. This mode covers his body in a red chakra cloak with tails, significantly enhancing his speed and strength.
However, using this form is not something that Naruto can use lightly, because using it means releasing more of Kurama's destructive energy. It gives Naruto immense destructive power, but it takes away his will and consciousness, causing severe harm to his own body and everyone around him. Although these forms are not something that he can use freely in a fight, it is without a doubt that they have helped him win fights and escape certain deaths.
8 Sage Mode
Showed the Villagers Naruto's True Strength
This form hyped so many fans because it was when Naruto finally showed his potential and kindness to the villagers who had shunned him for years. When Naruto’s master died, he decided to train Sage Mode with the toads at Mount Myoboku. Only a handful of shinobis like Minato, Jiraya, and Hashirama could use the Sage Mode aside from Naruto.
He harnesses the natural energy around him in this form, drastically increasing his strength, speed, and sensory abilities. This form played a crucial role during Pain's on Konoha, which almost led to the total annihilation of the village. Sage Mode doesn’t rely on Kurama’s chakra, unlike Naruto's other forms. Some believe that Naruto is nothing without Kurama; however, this form proves this claim false because it showed Naruto as a formidable ninja who can stand alone.
7 Nine-Tails Chakra Mode
Gives Naruto Speed and a Warm Golden Cloak
Naruto gained access to Kurama’s power without any repercussions after his successful training with Killer Bee to control the Nine-Tails. At first, there was a limit of chakra that Naruto could use to continue fighting using this mode because he still couldn’t completely control Kurama. However, due to his determination and differences from other Jinchuriki, Naruto wins over the hatred in Kurama’s heart.
Unlike the nine-tails chakra cloak that emits red and destructive pressure, this form envelops Naruto’s body with a warmer, golden chakra cloak. The strength and speed that this form showcases already surpasses the Sage Mode massively. Naruto's speed appears as if he is teleporting, and he dodges the attack of the fastest shinobi alive in the series. Aside from the immense speed and strength, this mode also gives Naruto healing abilities.
6 Kurama Chakra Mode
Saved the Shinobi Forces During the Fourth Great Ninja War
Kurama Chakra Mode is the stronger version of the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode. Naruto has access to even more powerful abilities and a stronger connection with Kurama. This allows him to manifest the full potential of the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode without transforming into a tailed beast. This form of Naruto's literally caused goosebumps among the fans during the Fourth Great Ninja War.
This form allowed Naruto to share Kurama's chakra with others, supporting his allies in battles, making it vital in turning the tide of the war in favor of the allied ninja forces. Moreover, Naruto can even use tailed beast balls in this form, adding them to his arsenal and making him more powerful. His strength and speed increased drastically and without limit, since Kurama willingly supported Naruto.
5 The Tailed Beast Mode
Strong Enough To Astonish Madara and Obito Uchiha
This mode allows Naruto to fully transform into Kurama, taking on the Nine-Tails' massive fox form. In this state, Naruto can unleash incredible power, strong enough to rival and even restrain five-tailed beasts at once. Initially, there's a limit to how long Naruto can maintain this form, but as his bond with Kurama strengthens, he can use it for longer periods.
Naruto first used this form during his face-off against Madara and Obito Uchiha. Sasuke, who is fixated on becoming strong, realizes how far Naruto has outgrown him in terms of power because of this form. It also played a crucial role in his battle against the Ten-Tails, which was essential to turning the tide in those intense fights.
4 Kurama Sage Mode
The Form That Went Against Kaguya Otsutsuki
Sage Mode is already a powerful ability, but adding Kurama's chakra makes it even more powerful. The Kurama Sage Form allows Naruto to use Kurama's massive chakra reserves and natural energy simultaneously, significantly increasing his strength and sensory abilities. Naruto tried this during his training at Mount Myoboku but failed because Kurama did not cooperate.
In their fight with Obito Ten Tails Jinchuriki, Naruto first uses this form, where only natural energy-enhanced techniques work against him. He later uses it again in the battle against Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, a near-unstoppable enemy due to her god-like abilities.

3 Sage of Six Paths Mode
Gave Naruto A Portion Of Hagoromo's Power
Naruto activated the Sage of Six Paths Mode when he received a portion of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki's power. This form combines the tailed beasts' chakra with Hagoromo's, giving Naruto an incredible buff and enhancing his strength, speed, and healing abilities. He also gained the power of the truth-seeking orbs, powerful orbs that can destroy most things they touch.
Additionally, Naruto's sensory abilities are enhanced, enabling him to detect Madara's invisible clones. The most impressive ability of this power is that Naruto was able to revive Guy sensei, who almost lost his life fighting Madara. Lastly, this form allows Naruto to access the chakra of all the tailed beasts and apply it to his techniques.
2 Asura Mode
Proves Naruto's Strength Surpasses Sasuke's
In the Naruto series, Asura Mode is, without a doubt, the strongest form of Naruto. He achieved this form when he fully inherited the strength of his ancestor, Asura Ōtsutsuki. He used this mode during his final fight with Sasuke after they defeated Kaguya.
In this form, he fought Sasuke, who possesses a Susano enhanced by the chakra of all the tailed beasts, on equal footing. He also used Shadow Clone Jutsu while in tailed beast mode, which played a crucial role in the fight. In their final attack, Naruto leaves a cloned Kurama to amass natural chakra, giving him enough power to rival Sasuke's most powerful attack, Indra's Arrow.
1 Baryon Mode
Marks Naruto's Peak as He Defeats Isshiki Ōtsutsuki
Baryon Mode is undoubtedly the most powerful form Naruto has ever achieved in the entire franchise. He activated this form during his battle against Isshiki Ōtsutsuki, an entity even stronger than Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. This transformation granted Naruto overwhelming strength, allowing him to drain an opponent's life force with every physical contact, making him nearly unbeatable in close combat.
However, every powerful ability comes with a great cost. Baryon Mode uses Naruto's and Kurama's chakra as raw materials to make an entirely new form of energy. Using this mode made Naruto the strongest being in the Narutoverse, but eventually cost his partner's life, Kurama.
