Summer of 2026 is gaining force when it comes to theatrical releases, and August 2026 will bring a variety of movies, such as a slasher movie, a biographical movie about a beloved author, a long-awaited comedy starring well-known animated characters, and more. 2026 has been a successful year when it comes to theatrical releases, with surprises like Obsession, long-awaited movies like Project Hail Mary, and franchise expansions like Toy Story 5, Scary Movie, and more.
July 2026 welcomed some of this summer’s most-anticipated releases, such as Minions & Monsters, Evil Dead Burn, the live-action remake of Moana, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. That said, August will bring some movies that will begin with a limited theatrical release and expand shortly after, along with Eli Roth’s latest horror project, a sci-fi movie starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, the story of Anthony Bourdain, a movie that almost didn’t see the light of day, the latest project by the director of Train to Busan, and more.
