Every Marvel Hero Who Could Join The MCU’s Midnight Sons

Recent years have seen the Marvel Cinematic Universe diving deeper into the magical and supernatural side of the universe. Following some recent announcements from Marvel Studios, we're now closer than ever to one day seeing the formation of an entire team of supernaturally focused heroes in the MCU: The Midnight Sons.

While The Avengers face world-ending villains, major cosmic threats, and multiversal crises, forces like dark magic, demons, vampires, zombies, the occult, and cursed relics often require more specialized heroes/those more familiar with ancient powers and the supernatural. In the comics, The Midnight Sons were formed in the early 90s for this exact reason, taking on foes like Lilith, Chthon, and even the demon lord Mephisto himself (who finally made his MCU debut in 2025). Combined with the recent casting of Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider, it's worth looking at the many members who already exist in the MCU.

Here are all the MCU heroes who could realistically join a Midnight Sons/Suns team on-screen, based on both their comic book history and where they currently stand in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Doctor Strange

A central figure of the Midnight Sons on the page, Doctor Strange has often served as the Midnight Sons' unofficial leader, Nick Fury-type recruiter, originally assembling the fabled "Nine" to take on Lilith, the "Queen of Evil" and "Mother of Demons" herself.

Having been Marvel's predominant Master of the Mystic arts for a full decade in the MCU, Stephen Strange's involvement in a new supernatural team on-screen feels like an inevitability. Perhaps once the multiversal crises of Doomsday and Secret Wars are resolved, Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange will be able to turn his attention to darker, more ancient threats.

Blade

Although Mahershala Ali's Blade movie has been delayed for years to the point where it's likely been shelved indefinitely, it'd be a shame to have a Midnight Sons crossover in the MCU without The Daywalker, another founding member and leader on the page. Thus far, Blade's voice has only been heard off-screen at the end of Eternals, and an animated multiversal variant who became a new Moon Knight was featured in the Marvel Zombies series. Perhaps a Midnight Sons movie can finally give Blade the full MCU debut he's long deserved.

Ghost Rider

Multiple Ghost Riders have been major faces of the Midnight Sons in the comics, burning skulls and all. Throughout its many variations and rosters, some version of the Spirit of Vengeance has almost always been present on the team as a major supernatural anti-hero. Now that Ryan Gosling is confirmed to play Ghost Rider with a debut film releasing in 2028, perhaps a Midnight Sons crossover won't be far behind for the new live-action Spirit of Vengeance.

Moon Knight

Another hero tied to the supernatural as the avatar of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu, Marc Spector's Moon Knight should absolutely be part of a Midnight Sons team in the MCU, just as he has been (and currently is) in the comics. Following the end of Moon Knight's first season in 2022, the Fist of Khonshu has yet to be seen. Likewise, no subsequent seasons are in development nor future appearances announced, meaning Oscar Isaac's on-screen future as the MCU's Moon Knight is wide open.​​​​​​​

Elsa Bloodstone

One of Marvel Comics' greatest monster hunters, Elsa Bloodstone is an obvious candidate for the MCU's potential Midnight Sons roster. Her reputation is quite impressive, having taken on vampires, demons, werewolves, and all kinds of supernatural creatures and monsters over the years. Having made her MCU debut in Werewolf by Night, Laura Donnelly Elsa would be a fantastic addition.

Werewolf By Night

In the comics, Jack Russell aka Werewolf by Night was part of a unique team of more monstrous Midnight Sons tasked with taking on a major zombie virus outbreak. As such, it would be very exciting to see Gael García Bernal's Werewolf by Night join a larger roster of live-action heroes following his well-received MCU debut in 2022 with his Disney+ special.

Man-Thing

Guardian of the Nexus of All Realities, Man-Thing protects one of the most important mystical locations in the Marvel Universe, while also having been associated with the Midnight Sons. Having debuted in the same Disney+ special as Werewolf by Night and Elsa Bloodstone, it'd be pretty great to keep the trio together for a Midnight Sons crossover. He could easily serve as the team's supernatural "Hulk."

Black Knight

Although actor Kit Harington debuted as Dane Whitman in 2021's Eternals, he has yet to appear in the MCU since nor wield the Ebony Blade as the fabled Black Knight on-screen. Although Black Knight hasn't been a member of the Midnight Sons traditionally in the comics, Eternals did tease a partnership with Mahershala Ali's Blade (though who knows if that's even still in the cards at this point). Nevertheless, Dane Whitman and his cursed blade would likely fit right in with the supernatural team of heroes.

Scarlet Witch

Although Wanda Maximoff's Scarlet Witch isn't traditionally a core member of the Midnight Sons, her mastery of chaos magic and deep ties to mystical forces would make her an ideal addition. A crossover movie could also be a great way to facilitate her highly theorized and anticipated return to the MCU following Wanda's intentionally ambiguous fate at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Wong

While Doctor Strange is a Master of the Mystic Arts, Wong (Benedict Wong) still holds the title of Sorcerer Supreme in the MCU. Combined with his established ties to the Midnight Sons on the page, Wong would be a most welcome member alongside Strange himself in a future crossover movie.
