Honkai: Star Rail has now added its 10th Harmony unit, Sunday, but how does he rank among this talented roster? Star Rail continues to be the gold standard of gacha games. Learning from the mistakes of Genshin, Star Rail is arguably the best HoYoverse game, if not the best game in the gacha genre. The game continues to innovate and evolve as 3.0 will add the Remembrance Path focused on characters that summon servants.

The Harmony Path is filled with characters meant to buff others, usually the DPS of the team. Almost every single character has had their time in the sun or has a team they fit incredibly well into. Every time a 5-Star Harmony unit comes out, they are a must-pull character regardless of a player's status as free-to-play or willing to spend.

10 Hanya Is The Runt Of The Litter

Physical 4-Star

Hanya is, unfortunately, the worst of this talented Path. Hanya was one of the first hybrid-like characters who debuffs enemies to increase team damage while also helping generate skill points. Her ultimate is handy for giving a 20% speed boost and 60% attack boost, but this alone isn't worth putting her into teams.

The other large issue with Hanya, besides her kit, is her lack of use in teams. Though she can be used with a wide number of DPS units, other Harmony units fit her spot better. This is not only true of 5-Star units, but the other 4-Star Harmony units she has to compete with. This leaves Hanya in a spot where she is the last resort for even those with limited characters.

9 Asta Has Gotten Better, But Other Options Exist

Fire 4-Star

Honkai Star Rail's Asta is sitting next to a giant telescope. She looks gently at the viewer's direction.

Asta is one of the original Harmony units that eventually fell off, just to be revitalized with the emergence of Break teams. Her kit is relatively simple, generating stacks of attack buffs while her ultimate provides a speed boost. However, she is a clunky character to use without Eidolons, as her stacks deplete quickly and thus remove the attack buff.

These limitations have been the largest reason why she is often neglected. The other downside is her better options. Ruan Mei and Trailblazer are better options for Break teams, whereas someone like Guinaifen can function better with DOT. Overall, Asta is a character many, if not all, players will use in the beginning, but she quickly falls off.

8 Yukong Is On The Rise

Yukong was originally one of the more niche support units but has quickly risen to one of the best free-to-play options. Her kit is simple but extremely powerful. Her skill provides a two-turn attack buff, while her ultimate provides a sizable boost to critical rate and damage.

Her recent rise is in large part due to characters like Feixiao and Yunli, who are both heavily reliant on critical stats. While 5-Star Harmony units are still better than Yukong, she does not face the significant drop-off other 4-Stars do. This makes her perfect for budget teams, or for players who do have 5-Star Harmony characters but wish to use them elsewhere.

7 Tingyun Is Versatile And Strong

Lightning 4-Star

Tingyun was one of the strongest Harmony units when she was released, and has only fallen due to the immense strength of the 5-Stars. Her skill gives allies an attack buff for three turns, while also allowing Tingyun to chip in some damage. However, it is her ultimate, which gives a damage bonus for two turns and restores 50 energy to the target, that gives her a place. Especially since, if built correctly, it is entirely possible to have this back in two to three turns.

Tingyun works best in Hypercarry teams, which, luckily enough, are the most used. This makes her incredibly valuable for any account, and a good substitute if needed. The only drawbacks Tingyun has is her lack of action advances or critical boosts.

6 Bronya Has Fallen But Is A Good Baseline

Wind 5-Star

Honkai Star Rail's Bronya gives a speech in Belobog. There are Silver Mane guards standing behind her with their spears in hand.

Bronya was the first 5-Star Harmony unit, and one most players can get at some point. Her skill was the first to have an action advance, which made the target get their turn immediately, along with a 66% damage boost. This is paired with her (originally powerful) ultimate, which gives the entire team an attack boost and a critical damage boost based on Bronya's stats.

She is a great boon for new players and fills a great role in hypercarry DPS, while having some uses for dual DPS teams. The only real downside to Bronya is how newer characters have been released with better scaling buffs, but regardless, Bronya gave players the first taste of what to expect from this powerful Path.

5 Harmony Trailblazer Was One Of One

Imaginary 5-Star

From 2.3 to the late stages of 2.7, Harmony Trailblazer, or TB for short, was the premier support for Break Teams. This was all due to their ultimate, which gives every unit on the team Super Break damage when hitting weakness-broken enemies. This buff lasts for three turns, and with a proper build, can easily be refreshed when it was up.

The reason Harmony TB has fallen from their spot is the release of Tingyun Fugue in Honkai: Star Rail. This powerful Fire Nihility unit brings everything Harmony TB does to Break Teams, but has the Super Break damage as a part of her passive talent. Thus, she makes it much easier to consistently deal this superior damage, and frees up the Trailblazer to use another Path.

4 Sparkle Has Unfulfilled Potential

Quantum 5-Star

Honkai Star Rail's Sparkle extends her hand while a red effect forms around her.

Sparkle is the Harmony unit that has suffered the most from the recent meta shift. Her whole kit focuses on damage boosts and massive critical damage buffs, all entwined around her ability to give two bonus max skill points and refresh four when she uses her ultimate. She does have an action advance, but with it only being by 50%, she has to be built to near 160 speed for it to be a consistent immediate action.

With the meta shifting toward Break teams and likely summon teams in 3.0, Sparkle has been left behind. She may get some use, since other Harmony characters are getting summon advancement mechanics like Sunday, but it won't be a huge rise. Another tricky aspect of her situation is that her two main DPS combos are clunky. Dan Heng IL isn't a top-tier option anymore. Though Acheron still is, Sparkle is only best with Acheron when she has her second Eidolon, which reduces how many Nihility characters are needed for maximum ultimate damage.

3 Robin Is The Queen Of Follow-Up Teams

Physical 5-Star

Robin has been a strong unit since she came out, and though she is quite versatile, she is best with follow-up attack (FUA) teams. This is largely due to her talent, which increases every ally's critical damage by 20% and gives Robin two energy for each ally attack. This energy regeneration is crucial given her ultimate, which gives a massive attack boost and immediate action to all teammates, has a heavy cost. Robin's kit wraps up with her team-wide skill that increases all ally damage by 50%.

This all makes Robin the premier Harmony unit for FUA teams, which have always been relatively popular. The current top options are Dr. Ratio, since he was given away for free and is genuinely strong, and Feixiao, who may just be the best DPS in the game. Robin can be spread out to other teams if necessary but is at her strongest when used with FUA teams.

2 Sunday Is On The Horizon

Imaginary 5-Star

Like his sister, Sunday and his best builds are one of the top Harmony options. Even though he has just been released, he is more than worthy of this claim. His skill is an action advance akin to Bronya's, and while the damage boost is lower, it also applies to a teammate's summon by 50%. This is coupled with his talent, by giving the target of skill 20% more critical rate. Sunday's kit culminates with his powerful ultimate, which grants massive critical damage buffs, along with 20% max energy to the target.

Sunday will be best for Remembrance/summon teams, already showing his prowess with Jing Yuan. However, this is not his only limitation. Though his critical damage boost is not as high as Sparkle's, his critical rate and energy regeneration make him great for other units. The only unit he is not the best-in-slot choice for, or near best, is Acheron.

1 The Versatile Ruan Mei

Ice 5-Star

Ruan Mei is the top Harmony unit because of everything she brings to the table. While she has no advance action or critical buffs, her damage buff, weakness break efficiency increase, speed increase, and all-type resistance penetration are just too much to ignore. This also goes along with the second part of her ultimate, which will further delay an enemy's turn when they are weakness-broken.

All this combines to make Ruan Mei the best option for Break teams, and just as good in every other format. Specific teams may have another unit that would work a little better, but having Ruan Mei in their place would be a minor downgrade, if any. This incredible flexibility is what makes her the top Harmony unit to have in Honkai: Star Rail.

Overall, Harmony is a Path that is expected to be strong whenever a new character comes out. That has been the case since Ruan Mei, and Sunday has matched it. It will be interesting to see how this can shift, as 3.1 is expected to add another Harmony character, but this is how the current ranking stands for every Harmony unit in Honaki: Star Rail.
