HBO has addressed Euphoria’s future beyond season 3 amid expectations that the upcoming season could mark the end of the hit drama. Created by Sam Levinson, Euphoria debuted in 2019 and quickly became one of HBO’s most talked-about series, centering on a group of teenagers navigating addiction, identity, relationships, and trauma.
Euphoria stars Zendaya as Rue, alongside Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, and Sydney Sweeney. The show has been praised for its bold storytelling and distinctive visual style. Euphoria season 3 will premiere in April 2026 and will introduce a major time jump.
In a new interview with Deadline, HBO chairman and CEO Casey Bloys was asked about speculation that season 3 would be the final chapter of the hit teen drama. Keeping the cards close to his chest, Bloys revealed that Levinson is still working on season 3, saying that conversations about the future of the show will have to happen after the new season is out. Read his full comments below:
What’s happening is Sam is finishing the third season, which I will say he’s come up with an incredible way to move all these characters ahead five years, it’s really exciting to see. We’re just starting to see the cuts, which are great. But in terms of what he wants to do next, we will have a conversation about what he’s thinking. But right now, he’s focused on finishing three and getting it out.
Euphoria season 3 picks up five years after season 2, pushing the characters into very different chapters of their lives. Rue is seen working at a Smoke Shack until drug dealer Laurie shows up to collect the money Rue owes her.
Meanwhile, Nate and Cassie are engaged, living in the suburbs, with Cassie increasingly consumed by social media and the envy of her peers. She also appears to be working as a content creator. Jules is attending art school in New York and apparently is a sugar baby. Maddy has moved to Hollywood, where she works at what appears to be a talent agency and has some side hustles, while Lexi works as an assistant to a showrunner.
Reports in the press had suggested that season 3 could be the final installment, in part due to the show’s time jump, but also the availability of its stars. Zendaya, Elordi, Schafer, and Sweeney have gone on to work on notable film and television projects, with Elordi being nominated for an Oscar for his performance in Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein.
MovieStills DBGiven that the main cast of Euphoria consists of some of the busiest actors in Hollywood today, it's understandable that season 3 is likely to be the final chapter of HBO's hit series. From a narrative perspective, this makes sense as well, as people often lose touch with their high school friends, and with the progression of the characters' journeys, it seems challenging to continue the story any further.
For now, fans can look forward to season 3 arriving this spring. While unlikely, whether Euphoria returns after season 3 may depend on how the story ends and if Sam Levinson believes there are any stories left to tell.
Euphoria season 3 premieres April 12, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max.
