SharpLink Gaming (SBET) disclosed quarterly net losses totaling $394.3 million for Q2, a significant increase from the $103.4 million deficit recorded during the corresponding period last year. The substantial financial impact stemmed primarily from $321 million in unrealized depreciation on the company’s Ethereum portfolio and an additional $76.1 million in impairment charges related to liquid staking derivatives.
However, the company’s operational performance showed improvement, with total revenue climbing to $11.5 million compared to merely $0.7 million in the prior year period. SharpLink successfully raised $75 million through an equity offering, allocating a portion to acquire 10,000 ETH, and concluded Q2 with 886,881 ETH in reserves. Current holdings have expanded to 888,938 ETH.
BitMine Immersion (BMNR) captured attention with contrasting developments last week. The firm executed a repurchase of 3 million shares, elevating cumulative buybacks since July to 19.1 million shares as part of its comprehensive $4 billion share repurchase initiative.
Simultaneously, BitMine acquired an additional 7,931 ETH, pushing total holdings to 5.805 million ETH. Within this portfolio, 5.067 million ETH is actively staked via the company’s Made in America Validator Network (MAVAN), producing annualized staking income of approximately $257 million.
Enterprise Staking Propels Ethereum to New Heights
Total Ethereum staked reached an all-time peak of 41.7 million ETH, based on CryptoQuant data highlighted by Bitfinex on August 10. This milestone represents approximately 34.5% of ETH’s total circulating supply, currently estimated at 120.7 million tokens.
Staked ETH volumes stood near 36 million tokens as recently as January. The approximately 5.5 million ETH surge occurred despite ETH’s market value declining from roughly $3,400 to around $1,900 throughout the same timeframe.
Ethereum (ETH) PriceCorporate treasury operations have been instrumental in this growth. BitMine maintained approximately 4.9 million ETH in staking positions as of mid-July. SharpLink has similarly allocated the majority of its treasury reserves to staking protocols, continuing to generate rewards despite prevailing price headwinds.
These record-breaking staking metrics have reignited discussion surrounding EIP-8363, a governance proposal recommending the burning of increasing portions of staking rewards as participation rates climb. SharpLink CEO Joseph Chalom has publicly opposed this measure, contending that native yield mechanisms enhance Ethereum’s attractiveness to institutional capital.
ETH Price Tests Critical Support Zone
Market analyst Daan Crypto Trades observed that Ethereum has maintained its current trading band but requires a decisive breakthrough above $1,950 to unlock momentum toward $2,100 and higher targets. He emphasized that price action has exhibited significant compression, suggesting an imminent breakout in either direction could generate substantial momentum. He identified $1,850 as the crucial invalidation threshold for bullish scenarios.
From a technical perspective, ETH is positioned near $1,870, navigating between the 20-day and 50-day exponential moving averages at $1,884 and $1,862 respectively. The 100-day EMA situated at $1,924 continues to function as significant overhead resistance.
United States spot Ethereum ETFs accumulated $244.9 million in net inflows throughout the previous week, representing their strongest weekly performance since mid-April.
