‘Eternally Yours’: Helen J Shen & Parker Young Join CBS Comedy Pilot From ‘Ghosts’ EPs

EXCLUSIVE: Helen J Shen (Maybe Happy Ending) and Parker Young (The United States of Al) have been cast as series regulars opposite Ed Weeks, Allegra Edwards and Jaren Lewison in CBS‘ vampire comedy pilot Eternally Yours, from Ghosts developers, executive producers and showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman and CBS Studios.

Written by Port and Wiseman, Eternally Yours is an eternal love story about two vampires, Liz (Edwards) and Charles (Weeks), who have been married for five hundred years, and their struggles to accept the human, Max (Lewison), who is dating their daughter, Emma (Shen).

Cynical and sardonic, Emma is a bright and caring veterinarian who lives at home in a coven with her vampire parents, Charles and Liz. A longtime witness to their difficult marriage, Emma is a commitment-phobe who is always waiting for the other shoe to drop in relationships.

Young will play Jesse, a lovable goofball and an under-thinker in a house of over-thinkers. Part of Charles & Liz’s vampire coven since the mid 1800’s, Jesse’s trick to avoiding getting tied down for eternity is that he only marries humans. As he says, “Have fun for a while, then you get a new model” when they pass away. Only problem is that people are living a lot longer than they did back in the day. Consequently, he is in the fourth decade of very loving marriage with a woman who could now easily pass for his mother.

The pilot brings Young back to CBS where he starred on the Chuck Lorre comedy series United States Of Al.

Port and Wiseman executive produce alongside Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum and Jason Wang. CBS Studios is the studio. Filming is slated to begin soon.

Shen currently stars in the critically-acclaimed Broadway musical Maybe Happy Ending, winner of the 2025 Tony Award for Best Musical. For their performance, Shen was recognized with the Clive Barnes Award for Theatre, the Theatre World Award, along with Grammy, Drama Desk and Drama League award nominations. Shen recently wrapped filming The Devil Wears Prada 2, set to be released this May. Shen is repped by Artists & Representatives and Solstice Talent.

In addition to United States of Al, Young’s previous credits include Imposters, Fox’s comedy Enlisted and his breakout role as the hilarious “Ryan Shay” on ABC’s Suburgatory. He also recurred on Lena Waithe’s Twenties, 911 Lonestar and Fox’s Going Dutch. He’ll next be seen in McG’s film, The Way of the Warrior Kid, playing a Navy SEAL opposite Chris Pratt. Young is repped by Gersh and David Dean Management.
