Emily In Paris Season 5: Cast, Story & Everything We Know

2 days ago 2

Warning! This Post Contains SPOILERS For Emily In Paris Season 4 Part 2!

The hit Netflix rom-com series Emily in Paris made its triumphant return with season 4 in August 2024, and now the series has scored a renewal for season 5. Debuting in 2020, the show follows a young American named Emily as she moves to Paris to work for a high-end marketing firm. Throughout Emily's first few years in the French capital, she found love, heartbreak, and more than a few romantic twists and turns, and it's clear that Emily's path toward true love is anything but straight and narrow.

Emily in Paris season 4 was split into two parts, which also created a natural crescendo at mid-season that had an impact on part 2. Emily's will-they-won't-they with Gabriel took the next step as the couple declared their love officially, but they were back on the outs by season 4's finale. In perhaps the biggest shock of all, the series is seemingly setting up for a big move to Rome, and the future of the Paris-based show could shift forever. With all of that looming over the next season, Netflix wasted no time when renewing Emily in Paris season 5.

Though the fate of the popular series was never really in any doubt, the latest news sees Netflix renew Emily in Paris season 5. The decision came just days after the season 4 part 2 debut, and shows the supreme confidence that the streamer has in the Lily Allen-led rom-com. To announce the renewal, Netflix went to their official X (formerly Twitter) account and posted a photo of Allen drinking espresso from an Emily in Paris cup. Printed on the bottom of the cup is the number 5, and the post's caption reads "There's no place like Rome."

The writing was on the wall that Emily in Paris would score a season 5 renewal sooner rather than later, and Netflix made their official announcement just days after season 4 part 2's premiere. This speaks to the tremendous popularity of the series, and Netflix was smart to strike while the iron was hot, and order more episodes. Emily In Paris Season 5 Cast

Who Will Return For Season 5?

Though the full extent of season 5 isn't known yet, there are several logical returns for the cast of Emily in Paris season 5, including the eponymous character who will once again be played by Lily Collins. The show is nothing without its love triangle, and it's expected that Lucas Bravo will be back as Gabriel alongside Lucien Laviscount as Alfie. Emily's best friend Mindy (Ashley Park) should also be expected in season 5.

It's unclear if Camille (played by Camille Razat) will return for the next season, and her rather hasty exit from season 4 lacked a sense of finality. On top of that, Emily's big move to Rome puts most cast returns in doubt, but the series would lose a bit of itself if it completely reset its main cast. Since she's in Rome for season 5, it's all but guaranteed that Eugenio Franceschini will be back as Emily's newest beau, Marcello.

Add Marcello to the mix, and a love triangle has turned into something much more complex in Emily in Paris season 5.

Though Emily in Paris has never shied away from shocking endings, the conclusion of season 4 part 2 might have the most profound impact on the show's future thus far. Pursuing new business opportunities, and her new love Marcello, Emily makes the decision to relocate to Rome from Paris. It's already been confirmed that season 5 will make the jump to Rome (though a retitle is unconfirmed as yet), and this could offer a chance for the story to reset a bit.

However, Emily and Gabriel continued their will-they-won't-they right up to the conclusion of season 4, and this means he'll likely pursue her across international borders as well. As for Gabriel, his quest to achieve a Michelin star was a success, but his longing for Emily might put his professional development at risk as he chooses love over career. Alfie might have encouraged Gabriel to chase Emily, but his love for her hadn't faded either. Add Marcello to the mix, and a love triangle has turned into something much more complex in Emily in Paris season 5.
