Elon Musk Is Making His Own 2026 Odyssey Movie After Christopher Nolan Criticism

Elon Musk has confirmed his intent to make his own version of The Odyssey.

Hitting theaters on July 17, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey chronicles Odysseus' epic 10-year journey home after the Trojan War. Though the film, which stars Matt Damon in the lead role, has been met with glowing reviews, Musk has long been an outspoken critic, bashing the movie for its casting of Lupita Nyong'o and Elliot Page.

Now, Musk reveals in a new post on his social media platform, X, that he will use Grok, X's AI, to make his own adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey. Musk writes that his AI-generated movie will arrive at some point in 2026 and that it will be "historically accurate and true to the art of Homer."

The trillionaire's post accompanied a three-minute video that another X user had generated using Grok Imagine. The video reimagines a scene from The Odyssey with only white actors, suggesting that Musk's version will be adopting a similar approach, addressing one of his key complaints with Nolan's epic.

Since January, Musk has been an outspoken critic of Nolan's decision to cast Nyong'o as Helen of Troy. "Chris Nolan has lost his integrity," he wrote at the time. Musk has also criticized Nolan and Hollywood at large for having a "woke" agenda.
