Elon Musk Deletes X Post About No Assassination Threats To Joe Biden And Kamala Harris

Elon Musk has deleted an X post in which he claimed that “no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala,” contending that his message was a joke and taken out of context.

His post was just the latest in a long line of X messages seemingly designed to draw attention and outrage — while major advertisers shun the site.

Musk’s post on Sunday was in the wake of the potential assassination attempt on the life of former President Donald Trump.

After one user asked, “Why they want to kill Donald Trump?,” Musk responded, “And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala.”

Musk’s post quickly drew condemnation and questioning of how he could remain a government contractor and make such a comment. Some called on the Secret Service to investigate.

Adam Kinzinger, the former Republican congressman who has endorsed Harris, wrote, “A reminder that Elon Musk is a government contractor for DOD and US Govt and has said things that would have gotten anyone kicked out of the military. He needs to stop, or the govt needs to treat him equally to everyone else. Being rich doesn’t put you above the law.”

Musk wrote this morning, “Well, one lesson I’ve learned is that just because I say something to a group and they laugh doesn’t mean it’s going to be all that hilarious as a post on X.”

He added, “Turns out that jokes are WAY less funny if people don’t know the context and the delivery is plain text.”

Musk previously spread conspiracy theories surrounding the attack on Paul Pelosi, the husband of then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in 2022.

The FBI is investigating an incident at Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course as a potential assassination attempt. Authorities said that a Secret Service agent, advancing holes as Trump played a round on Sunday, spotted a man with a rifle and fired shots at him. The man fled in his vehicle, but was later apprehended in a nearby county. The man has been identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, and is due to appear in court today.
