Ella Eyre has claimed that a friend once asked her if she would pay for her breast augmentation after she hit the big time with her first record deal.

The English singer, 31, who signed her first major record deal at the age of 16, rose to fame primarily as a featured vocalist on high-profile collaborations, most notably Rudimental's 2013 UK number-one single Waiting All Night.

The track, which featured her vocals, became a massive hit and won the 2014 BRIT Award for British Single of the Year.

Her debut solo EP, Deeper, was then released in late 2013, with her first solo single If I Go following in 2014.

Now, over ten years on, Ella has revealed that when she received her first pay cheque from her first publishing deal, a friend of hers was so impressed that she asked the star to pay for her surgery.

Speaking on the Spent podcast on Tuesday with host Matt Edmondson, Ella said: 'I'd gone into music just sort of following my dream, I didn't really have a backup plan.

'And when things actually started to go, Well, yeah, it blew my mind, to be honest. And I got, the thing that came to my mind first was my first publishing deal.

'You know, it was just the advance. Was just money I'd never even known before. And I remember a friend at the time who I trusted.

'She asked me to pay for her boob job because it was, like, so impressive that I told her.

She continued: 'And was like, "Wow, can you believe this?" Then she was like, "oh yeah. I was just wondering, like, you know". And I was just like, "okay, that's how I knew that I was doing. All right, yeah, that".'

Matt jokingly replied: 'That came out of left field,' and Ella confirmed: 'I said no.'

In 2023, Ella opened up about how Adele impacted her music career after an emotional night out.

The songstress admitted that watching Adele perform at the Brit Awards when she was 17 years old changed her life and inspired her to pursue a career as a pop star.

In an exclusive interview with Daily Mail to mark the launch of new wine brand JOY, Ella said: 'I remember I was at the Brit Awards when Adele sang Someone Like You.

'I was videoing it on my Nokia phone and watching all of my friends cry around me. I thought to myself, "I would love to touch people emotionally in this way with something I've created", and that's exactly where my passion came from.

'It was just about being inspired by artists around me who had that effect on me and wanting to provide that to people as well.'

Ella's most popular hits include Came Here For Love, We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off and Deep Down.

She also won Best Newcomer at the MOBO awards in 2014 with her gritty soulful voice, following that with Best Female Act in 2023.

And it seems the star is making a brilliant comeback, as she released another album, titled Everything, In Time just last year.

The album serves as her first full-length project in a decade, following her 2015 debut Feline.

Speaking more about where her passion for music comes from, Ella said: 'As a young person before social media, music was my way of expressing myself. When you are young, you go through your first heartbreaks, you make friends and lose friends.

'Music was a real anecdote to that and healing, either in a sad way or empowering way.

'I love to dance and sing, even if I wasn't good at the time, it didn't matter, it encouraged real human behaviours in me. I loved listening to songs with lyrics that really resonated with me.

'When I realised I could sing and people stopped telling me to shut up, that was something I wanted for myself, to make music that made people feel the way that I felt about the music I loved and to feel not alone.'
