However, the announcement of the Elden Ring film begs a larger question about the future of the franchise itself, with players deeply curious about whether we will ever receive an official Elden Ring 2, or whether FromSoftware is ready to move on to bigger and better things. Many gamers have speculated about possible spin-off projects featuring some of the game's iconic NPCs, such as Malenia, Miquella, or even Ranni, whose individual stories could easily support games of their own.
That said, Elden Ring fans are poised to get a major new release in the coming months that will mark the return of one of the game's most iconic enemies—one that has killed many a Tarnished within moments of stepping out into The Lands Between: the infamous Tree Sentinel (via Prime 1).
Elden Ring's Tree Sentinel is set to return with what promises to be an absolutely stunning statue from Prime 1 Studios, which officially listed the item on their list of upcoming additions to their Next Level Showcase. While details have not been revealed just yet and the product is still pending approval from official sources, it's likely to be approved, given Prime 1 is an esteemed distributor and has no issue securing licenses for iconic IPs such as Elden Ring.
Prime 1 Studio has yet to confirm the Tree Sentinel's scale, although the company's previous releases suggest either 1/4 or 1/6 scale would be the most plausible options. A 1/4-scale release would be enormous, but Prime 1 has tackled similarly ambitious mounted statues before, most notably its 1/4-scale Skull Knight on Horseback from the beloved Berserk franchise.
Also, given Prime 1 is launching the Tree Sentinel in its Next Level Showcase line, it's almost guaranteed to be a higher-end model, probably around the $2,000–$3,000 range if the final piece is anywhere near Skull Knight's complexity.
Gamers will recognize the Tree Sentinel as one of the first major enemies encountered after stepping foot into the Lands Between, though players can encounter several more of these imposing knights throughout their journey in areas such as the Altus Plateau and Shadow of the Erdtree's Hinterland region.
The Tree Sentinels are an elite order of heavily armored cavalry devoted to the protection of the Erdtree, with the Erdtree Greatshield describing them as its "living rampart" and the standard to which its other defenders aspire. Clad in golden armor still imbued with remnants of ancient grace, the Sentinels wield enormous holy weapons and patrol key locations throughout the Lands Between.
According to Elden Ring's infamously ambiguous lore, following Gransax's assault on Leyndell, some members of the order concluded that the only way to truly safeguard the Erdtree was to imitate the ancient dragons themselves, giving rise to the lightning-wielding Draconic Tree Sentinels outside Leyndell and in Crumbling Farum Azula that you likely remember prevented you from entering the arena to fight Maliketh, the Black Blade.
Given their incredible design, the Elden Ring Tree Sentinel statue is likely to be a hot item among fans when it eventually releases for pre-order, and you can wishlist it now to be sure you get yours when they become available.
