It is hard to believe that Elden Ring was released over four years ago in 2022. Its astounding that it not only proved to be a critical and commercial powerhouse when it initially launched, but continues to win awards, release genre-defining expansions, and get updates that fundamentally improve the experience. Amazingly, on top of all that, while FromSoftware is moving on to its next title, it seemingly isn't quite done with Elden Ring just yet, as it has even more planned for the already monolithic release.

Despite already being one of the biggest open-world games of all time, Elden Ring's latest piece of DLC is going to increase the amount of available content and give fans a genuinely good reason to return. This isn't a small or minor piece of DLC either, but something significant that users across all platforms, including the Switch 2, where Elden Ring is set to release in late August, can enjoy. The best part is that this brand-new piece of Elden Ring DLC is scheduled to launch very soon.

Fans have been curious about potential new Elden Ring expansions for quite some time, and while it seems unlikely that FromSoftware will release one quite as big as Shadow of the Erdtree any time soon (if ever), it does showcase just how big of an appetite players have for more Elden Ring content. Fortunately, as aforementioned, FromSoftware isn't quite ready to rest on its extraordinarily well-deserved laurels as it has a little more in store for fans.

On top of several brand-new Elden Ring releases, FromSoftware is making all of the DLC being introduced in the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game, Tarnished Edition, available to players on other platforms too. This will be repackaged as The Tarnished Pack DLC, and will include the Torrent skins and brand-new armor sets that come included in the Switch 2 Tarnished Edition. Ostensibly, this means, for a small fee, every version of the game will be feature complete, and the Switch 2 version won't have any exclusive gameplay features.

FromSoftware announced via its official X page that The Tarnished Pack DLC will cost just 550 yen, which equates to roughly $3.50. It's an exceptionally small amount for a piece of DLC, even for a game that has been out for nearly half a decade, although one can understand being slightly perturbed by the DLC not being given for free to existing owners of the game on other platforms.

Still, it is great to see this DLC be made more widely available to fans interested in picking it up. Obviously, it isn't inherently integral to the overall game, and Elden Ring can very much be enjoyed without these minor cosmetic alterations. However, for those with the disposable income to purchase it, the DLC will be made available for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on August 28, 2026, the same day the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring launches.
